I really love your Naga Vash! 🐍💖 And am curious to know more about your naga au, please?
GFHDKSLS thank you! I haven’t visited the naga AU in some time, but I do have a few notes about it tucked away!
Plants are replaced by nagas in this AU. They’re an all-female species and likely reproduce asexually, though I’m not entirely sure if they’re native to the new jungle planet or not. Vash and Knives are the only male nagas in existence, and studying them is a top priority for human science teams because they have like. No clue how they got there. However, the species’s existence is continually studied and monitored, because the good humans don’t want to do enough damage to the ecosystem to the point where they wipe out the native species. Of course, there are still people who kill the nagas for food, but there’s working legislation to outlaw that as humanity gains a footing here.
I think once a naga shows any sort of favoritism towards a worker, that worker immediately gets assigned to be their "handler". Meaning they pretty much have to keep the naga occupied so they don't act up and get into trouble. It's like the replacement for PLANT engineers.
In answer to another person’s ask, I…don’t quite know how long naga!Vash is. I do know he and Knives are the same length/size thanks to the twin factor. Knives just has white-ass scales compared to his twin. But I do know the twins separate territories for each other, and the rest of the nagas just kinda. Exist.
Not a lot is known about Knives because he doesn’t interact with humans. Vash on the other hand is very friendly and very public, so it’s not uncommon for people to want to go looking for him. Unfortunately, a lot of these people want to either kill him or capture him, because as previously stated, he’s one of the only two male nagas on the entire planet. Thankfully, Vash has the power of the Floating Colony on his side, and they do their best to keep his territory secure and protect him from poachers when they can,
I'm thinking that the twins’ territory is either too big or too complicated for people to effectively build something around, so they make a building in it and just try to track him and the other nagas in the area. The government is ironically the least worried about Vash thanks to the Floating Colony’s advocacy of him and his very docile/friendly nature. But they’re still wary of him and they can’t really find where he’s nesting. And that's kind of a concern for a dude that's supposedly responsible for tons of missing persons.
Only two people in the present know where Vash’s real den is — Luida has a general idea, and Ari KNOWS-knows where it is. Mostly because she lives there with him. Knives is trying to find it, but Vash is a smart cookie and has a bunch of proxy dens around his turf so that Knives won’t be able to tell which one is the “real” den.
Much like the canon version of herself, Ari has known Vash and Knives since they were little babies and she’s Vash’s handler. She also handled Knives to an extent, but that relationship ended after Vash lost his arm. Since she grew up with the twins and not with humans, Ari is arguably the best naga handler out there since she knows/sees nagas as sentient beings rather than alien animals. Towns with more nagas than they can handle typically look for her service rather than the big handling corporations because she doesn’t charge an arm and a leg to help them out.
Ari and Vash are also the only human-naga couple to date, though not a lot of people know they’re mates. As mates, they swap a lot of…fluids on a daily basis and Vash likes to give her little love bites to stake his claim. Thanks to all of this, Ari is slowly becoming part naga — she seems biologically immortal, she has heightened strength, speed and senses, she has fangs and dustings of scales, etc. They haven’t been able to have babies…yet. But Vash vibrates at the possibility to have a family in the future.
I haven’t thought too hard about it, tbh. I was salty that there wasn’t like ANY naga Vash fanart and I decided to make my own in hopes it’d inspire people to make their own. If anyone wanted to help me expand on it, feel free to add onto the post! I’m all ears!
I haven't seen ANY fanart depicting a naga au for Trigun and I have scoured the recesses of Google Images, Tumblr, AND Twitter. I am hereby making it myself. Here's my naga!Vash. He's semi-based off of a golden lancehead pit viper.
Finished a sketch from a previous post! I am currently obsessed with snakey Vash 🐍
How about we see the Quadruplets as baby nagas!🐍 Like from the the naga au.
Anon, your brain is so beautiful.
These were gonna be Halloween specials, but...eh. It's still Halloween SOMEWHERE, right?
Did I have way too much fun drawing Ari as a sweaty muscle mommy? Yes, I did.
I bet Naga Vash gives the best hugs! Especially with Ari 💖
And you know what? He ABSOLUTELY does. Naga Vash’s hugs can extend far beyond just him hugging with his arms. When he gets excited, he has a habit of wrapping his friends up in his coils and giving them a big ole squeeze.
He does tend to forget humans don’t have the same freaky lung capacity that Ari does. But that’s easily forgiven.
Have any of the naga babies especially Maggie tried to sneak off and try to visit one of the human towns? Or does. Vash always hunt them down and catch them before they get close to the settlements?
Oh, Maggie absolutely has! She’s most likely to sneak off, but she’s managed to rope her brothers into doing it too. Thankfully, their parents watch them like hawks and they always get them before they can get too far.
Across all continuities, there’s a watchfulness and paranoia with the quadruplets that wasn’t there with Indira and Sylvia. It’s been decades, but Ari and Vash were severely damaged by the loss of their daughters. Even now, when Ari finally feels safe enough to have children again, they can’t shake the feeling that something would happen to them. They’re always watching, always waiting. One eye on their children, and another in the back of their heads.
For the naga au has anyone ever tried to steal Vash and Ari's eggs? And if they did managed to steal one I think Ari will become an angry mama bear and won't rest until she gets her baby back! May god have Mercy on the Poachers soul!
Thankfully, our lovely couple hasn't had to worry about that! Vash already has some legal protections due to his status as one of the only two male nagas on the planet. Vash's territory is also too big for the government to effectively build a protective wall around, so they just set up bases in towns and in the jungle and patrol it to make sure everything's okay. Vash doesn't mind in the least and he is very friendly if a non-aggressive human crosses his path. I feel like Vash not only lets other nagas sleep in/hang out in his territory, but he lets humans live in his territory with no real issues. He's like a guardian angel for those towns and he's an instant celebrity whenever he pops into one. People will clean him up and bandage his wounds and give him food and treats and a warm heated bed. He loves it.
Like I mentioned in the lore post for this AU, only two people in the present know where Vash’s real den is, Ari and Luida. Luida has a general idea of where it is, but Ari KNOWS-knows where it is. Mostly because she lives there with him. Knives and a bunch of unrelated people are trying to find it, but Vash is a smart cookie and has a bunch of proxy dens around his turf so that people won’t be able to tell which one is the “real” den.
But on the topic of poachers. Vash and Ari have tangled with their fair share of ne'er-do-wells trying to take a piece or more of Vash and they deal with them accordingly. Vash is obviously nonviolent with his approaches, trying to scare them off or get them so lost in the jungle that they have no choice but to abandon the hunt and find their way back. Ari is much more direct — she may (or may not) not have her electric powers, but she does have knives, a crossbow, and more knowledge of the jungle than any human alive. She doesn't kill them because it would make Vash upset, but she does rough them up enough to send them running with their tails between their legs.
And as for the babies...the world doesn't know they exist yet. They live in the real Vash den and thanks to the previous loss of Indira and Sylvia, Ari and Vash don't want to release these babies to the public before they're old enough to defend themselves. The babies, however, are very interested in the human towns and really want to go see one. They get SUPER excited when Vash and Ari bring them human stuff.
Side note, I'm thinking of calling this AU Trigun Snakeskin. Thoughts anyone?
Also side note -- worm Vash seekers might want to check out this fanfic by @triplesilverstar.
