Have you ever experienced writer’s block? And what is your advice to push past writer’s block? Ilysm you’re my inspiration.🥺
oooooh boy have I ever. I hope these little tips are able to help a bit!!
these are of course only things that have worked for me. I’m not saying it’s gospel, just what I like to do :)
Ask yourself why you’re stuck. Is it because you don’t want to write a scene? Do you not have time? Do you feel overly stressed with work or school? Before you can tackle the problem, you need to figure out how it needs to go about to be solved. Sometimes, it isn’t about the actual writing, but about the planning, the setting, the character dialogue, or external pressures.
What do you want to write first? Write that. Yeah, sometimes it’s weird to write your story out of order, but it really helps get your flow going. Do you want to take a crack at the climax of your book first? Do it! Did you think of a good line you want to include later in your story? Stop to write it out. At the end of the day, you’re "getting the juice flowing” and it’ll help massively.
Don’t compare yourself to other writers. This is the biggest thing. Instead of reading books, the works of your peers, comics, etc. and thinking about how you wish “yours could look/turn out like that” is only hurting you. Instead, try to view reading other people’s content as inspiration! Note down words or phrases you like or want to rework in your own piece. There’s enough room for every writer! Let’s celebrate and learn from each other instead of competing :)
Sometimes, you just need to force yourself. It sounds so stupid but I swear by it. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of writing “put dialogue here and witty response follows” and continuing the scene. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of forcing yourself to get into it. Eventually, the good words will come :) and if not, there’s always editing!
hope this was able to help a bit buddy ily :’)
