bucky’s a vet who returned from his last tour with an arm that doesn’t work right and a whole lot of mental bullshit that he doesn’t think is anywhere fair but he deals because that’s his lot in life
since he returned he’s struggled with what he wanted to do with himself, but eventually he decided to follow his childhood dream and become a vet, before looking at the cost of qualifications and deciding maybe animal welfare or something instead
so he gets a training certification and decides what he wants to do is help rescue dogs, dogs who have been through shit like he has, and he wants to help the people who want to give these dogs a home
but he doesn’t know where to start so he just starts… walking them. for people. and turns out he kind of loves it? and he’ll do training when requested but he loves all these dogs that he sees every day
and one day his childhood-crush-turned-popsicle-turned-superhero-(again)-turned-adulthood-crush tweets out that he’s adopted a rescue dog, bucky just sort of. comments about his walking services and training, hoping to at least get people contacting him who see it in the comments thread
then steve rogers himself, real honest to got captain america, is like “hey you walk dogs” and bucky is so so screwed
