My biggest pet peeve of comparisons by Narutards with video game characters is with Tekken's Jin Kazama to Naruto's Sasuke Uchiha.
They say Jin copied Sasuke's hairstyle, how both were brooding, snobbish, defeated their targets and their treatment of their rivals. However, this is not always the case.
1. Character debut - Jin debuted in 1997, when Tekken 3 was released in the arcades (Console release was the following year). Sasuke debuted in 1999 during Naruto's serialization.
2. Hairstyle - both have the Vegeta cut except with bangs but again, back to no. 1, Jin debuted first. His hair is a mix of his father's Kazuya Mishima's hair and mother Jun Kazama's bangs, he also inherited her facial features. Sasuke's debut hairstyle was the "same" at his debut but as time goes by, it eventually changes. Jin's hair remained constant.
3. Brooding - yes, both of them brood due to betrayals (Heihachi for Jin and Itachi for Sasuke) but the latter has spent longer in that phase than the former. Jin also had the devil gene inside him, awakened by Heihachi shooting him in the head, which was a power he couldn't control and could hurt those he cares about. Sasuke, on the other hand, was distant and brooding after the Uchiha Massacre and his initial team ups with Team 7, it again surfaced bit by bit when Naruto was showing development in power and skill, which became one of the reasons why he eventually defected from Konoha.
4. Snobbish. Jin wasn't snobbish, he was actually pretty normal depending on who he interacts with. His use of honorifics depends on whom he interacts with, Kimi, pet name and first name basis for Xiaoyu (she also refers to him by his first name), Omae for almost everyone, kisama or temee for those he hates or disagrees with like Heihachi and Kazuya, hell, he even calls them by their first names without any honorifics despite being the former is his grandfather and the latter is his father, which is considered rude in Japanese. In fact, many comments in Project x Zone videos were surprised that Jin is polite to many characters. Sasuke, on the other hand, was actually rude, he refers to a lot of people by their first names, including his mentors Kakashi and Orochimaru. Sure, Naruto wasn't that into honorifics but I still find it rude.
5. Jin's main target in Tekken 4 was Heihachi and he defeated him using a different fighting style from the one he learned under the latter. He was one knife hand away from killing the latter when a vision of his mother, Jun, appeared in front of him. He eventually spared Heihachi and fled. Sasuke defected from Konoha to gain power to defeat Itachi. Yes, they had their fight and while he was able to force the latter to use his Susanoo, he never defeated Itachi, who was already sick and weakened. The latter actually managed to die on his own terms. The difference between the two, Jin actually defeated his target but spared him. Sasuke couldn't even defeat Itachi, who was already sick despite two years of training under Orochimaru.
5. Treatment of rivals. Jin's rival in the series is Hwoarang, a Taekwondo practitioner from Korea. The latter likes to challenge him to a fight and Jin actually accepts. He also respects Hwoarang and their rivalry is non-antagonistic. Sure, they're not best friends or brothers in arms but Jin wouldn't try to hurt Hwoarang. He just distances himself due to the Devil Gene and when he transformed into Devil Jin, he almost killed Hwoarang. Hence, his need to distance himself.
Sasuke actually looked down on Naruto a lot and tried to kill him many times in the series. Sure, they eventually reconciled but jeez, Naruto sure was a glutton for punishment.
I'm not a fan of making these kinds of posts but I really hate it when Narutards think Naruto was the origin of stuff when in reality, Kishimoto took a lot of inspiration for Naruto. This is not also limited to Naruto, this also applies to other works like One Piece and Bleach.
