AFAICT they're still only scheduling emergency appointments for urgent passport needs that they absolutely require must be handled in person, so thankfully the staff are aware exactly what it's about.

Their website is at least claiming that if you're going through the main embassy in London, they can often issue emergency passports the same day. Presumably without waiting for it to come from DC. And that is a pretty early morning appointment, likely without nearly as many people waiting as usual.

But, we'll see what happens! As long as it's within a couple of weeks, that would work.

Glad it sounds like everybody involved on your ends did manage to get things sorted out in time, at least! Dealing with this sort of thing--or relying on international mail--can be frustrating enough in the best of times. Which these still really, really aren't.

Okay but that in and of itself is an interesting and valid take, because it’s showing that he’s still so full of bravado and false grandiosity and uncomfortable ever showing his own limitations.

the main thing i’m upset about is that the memory of having been her was erased because i feel like if the dr remembered being her then they would have done less racist stuff overall

i’m very confused what you mean by this. Do you mean if the Doctor had been a black woman then the Doctor would have been less racist? or do you mean the writers? cuz if you mean the Doctor then, well, the reason the Doctor has been racist is because the writers were racist, esp in classic who. That’s unavoidable. You can’t avoid this plot just because of that.

I can’t tell if this was sarcastic or not, so if it was, fair enough. If it wasn’t - while there are plenty of jobs by giant businesses, especially in retail and tech, where overwork due to understaffing is very real, when I think of overworked and understaffed I think primarily of non-profit institutions (public sector, schools, many hospitals). There’s also the fact that in many of these roles there aren’t just an equal number of people with the right qualifications (eg: nursing).

I would just do the same advice ppl give about applying for disability: describe to her how your worst days are. Also you're an adult it's not even her business but whatever

thanks for the input! i actually had another talk to her after i made the post and one of the things i mentioned was similar to this. i was talking about how i’d use it most when my pain/fatique is worst, but also how it could help me with everyday stuff so its less likely to get to that point. i also talked about how you don’t have to be a certain ‘level’ of disabled to use mobility aids, which she likely knows already but just has trouble applying to people in her life who she’d be worried about needing them

also i appreciate you standing up for in regards to not having to explain myself to her, but there’s no need to worry :) we get along really well and often when she doesnt get the need for something it just takes some explaining on my part/getting used to on her part.

she knows, and i know, that i dont need her permission or approval to do things with my life, but i value her input on things and like it when she understands why i choose to make certain decisions. i’m lucky in the sense that she’s actually always in my corner, sometimes we just need to communicate more clearly to sort things out. thanks again for the reply <3
