When Michelangelo chose the piece of marble he was going to use when creating his masterpiece, he also knew there was no chance he would find a duplicate. Just like you and I, we were all created from a unique type of rock that would form the basis of who we are. Then as we journey through life being chiseled and crafted by the people and situations around us, our exterior changes but the basis of who we are will always be the same. So to mimic someone in the hope of changing your mix, we will consistently be fighting against our natural potential. . Instead we should find out what we are really made of and how to amplify our strengths and overcome our weaknesses. I have tried a lot of different strategies for gaining muscle mass without getting fat, and looking back it did work but it took a really long time. If I could go back 10 years when my metabolism and immune system was pretty much invincible (19) I would have eaten as much as I could while still being super active and lifting weights. For all those newbies or young lifters looking to put on size, I have a few tips I wish I new when I was younger: - research your calorie intake and macro splits - take at least a couple days rest so your body can recover and grow. It won’t grow by overtraining sore muscles. - concentrate on the big 3 muscle groups (legs,chest,back) then you can do arms on your off days -don’t waist the little money you have on supplements. Current physique at 84kg and unsure on body fat. Shoulder is so much better after getting some help from @physiogeelong Iv tried sticking to a program with my workouts but it’s a lot harder with a full time construction job. Some days can be physically exhausting and other more mental. So iv found that a more intuitive form of training works well so that I can train at my best with the muscles I want and the weights and reps I want. I see a lot of people stop and start so many different diet trends and more often than not, they end worse off than when they started. - The thing with all these trends has nothing to do with your genetics 🧬 and the people promoting these trends are usually fit and healthy to begin with, not to mention there simple lifestyle. - The one thing you need to focus on before trends, supplements or even lifting weights is to eat the calories your body needs. If your in a deficit (eating below what you know you need) or in a surplus (eating a lot more than what you need) you need to build it up or bring it down to your body’s maintenance level. This doesn’t happen in a day or a week. You need to allow a minimum of 4 weeks between any change to your metabolism so it can adjust and get comfortable with what your eating. The simple equation is your body weight in pounds (lbs) multiplied by how active your average day would be: 10 being nothing (no exercise and a desk job) up to 15 being super active (active job and exercising everyday). So choose the best number that suits your lifestyle and start counting. I find MyFitnessPal is a simple way to track your calories. Eg. - 184lbs x 15 = 2760 (Round down to the closest 100 for begginers) 2760 = 2700 . . Start your next chest workout with this combo. After warming up. - 45kg x 8 (choose your heaviest) - superset with about half the weight and double the reps. In this example I felt great so I went for 27.5kg x 16. For a total of 3 sets your always safer to start just a little lighter than what you think you can do, then if you feel comfortable you can go up on the next 2 sets.
