I love how the hair color is chosen in Bayern
Enna's black hair looks like smoke
Ani's looks like sunlight catching on shifting motes of dust
Rin's looks like tree bark
Dasha's looks like coral, rust or setting sunlight on the sea
Usually in fantasy fire means red or yellow hair. Earth means brown or black. Air means blonde. Water means some fun with hair color like blue. But Bayern subverts this and I love it!
And it works in story! Rin and Enna have dark hair, they're from the same place so have similar genes. Ani's from a lighter land, so she's got golden hair. Dasha's from another land entirely that is a waterside county where traders from other lands come with new genes that give people red hair.
Shut up and take her money!
