"...the sky was midnight black, shorn of stars. This was the landscape of Tiffany Aching’s mind.”
"On top of a round hill was a four-wheeled shepherding hut, with a curved roof and a chimney for the potbellied stove. Inside, the walls were covered with the yellow and blue wrappers from hundreds of packets of Jolly Sailor tobacco."
I discovered Terry Pratchett's Discworld ~ a couple of years ago. Not sure how it took so long, since I love fantasy and magic.
Truly, better late than never. These books helped me through a lot of the last year. I swallowed a good chunk of the Discworld series, starting with Guards! and Tiffany. Since then I’ve carried in my own mind an image of granny’s shepherd hut as it existed in Tiffany’s head, her hat, and witch herself. This personal work / fanart took a few months, on and off, to realize.
EDIT:
Of course I don't notice the last image is hot garbage quality until its been reblogged a few hundred times. 💀 Replaced, futile though that may be.
I always forget how to do this, since I don't do it often & it's buried in the UI. So I was googling it again and found my old Reddit post! Thanks, me! Posting it here too.
Also explained here: https://tips.clip-studio.com/en-us/articles/600#7426c312 → page search for: G. Redraw vector line width
To taper a vector line cleanly, use the Correct Line tool → Redraw vector line width:
Or, use Correct Line → Control Point → Adjust line width. Then just drag the control point you want to adjust to the desired size:
Either way, it's better to adjust the line thickness after drawing a non-tapered line; this will give you a clean line with fewest control points ↓
Versus drawing it tapered using the Starting and Ending option in Line tools — CSP adds a bunch of points along the line, making it a mess that's hard to change ↓
(If someone knows of a better way to draw it cleanly and tapered to begin with, please LMK! Best to comment on the Reddit post; I don't often see replies here on Tumblr.)
Likewise, "Adjust Line Width" is not good for precision; it will give you a wobbly line with a ton of points:
(But along with the Liquify tool, it's fantastic for organic drawing and painting!)

They made it annoyingly specific in CSP and I keep forgetting every time. So this is a note-to-self + whoever else needs it:

What we don't
CSP is amazing for painting (among other things, Lasso Fill Brush is fantastic; I wish Procreate had it). It's my go-to nowadays for most illustrations.
But it's weird for design; missing a lot of features. Even should-be-simple tasks like centering an object to another are kind of a pain. Always surprises me, since CSP was also (or foremost?) made for comics and has layout tools baked in.
Dark matter has turned out to be more elusive than physicists had hoped
INFO
Inspired by antique nautical maps depicting monsters in unknown waters (here be dragons), this celestial map shows dark matter styled as a draconic serpent wrapping around galaxies. (Dark matter is like a gravitational glue that binds galaxy clusters together, while dark energy pushes them apart.) Imagery and labels on the objects around the map suggest dark matter candidates like axions, WIMPs and black holes.
