the Blade Breaker and the Ashen Demon
apparently it’s Byleth’s birthday, so have a lil (mildly embarrassed) Byleth
some old Byleth designs from around when the game came out! nonbinary Byleth is still the only Byleth i accept lol
Triplet (mainly NB!) Byleth Headcanons
because i can’t draw. but i can write.
NB!Byleth is proficient in magic and bow, F!Byleth is proficient in brawling, axe and sword, and M!Byleth is proficient in sword, lance and flying.
absolutely do not put NB!Byleth on a Wyvern unless you want them to revert into an absolutely terrified AND terrifying screeching mess.
Sothis isn’t very good at math so she gave all three of her brain cells to M!Byleth. who can only properly use them if he’s not being influenced by his siblings.
NB!Byleth is the youngest, F!Byleth is the middle child and M!Byleth is the oldest.
NB!Byleth chose Blue Lions for these reasons.
Edelgard’s gaze was too analytical for their liking.
They immediately saw through Claude’s facade as if they were looking in a mirror.
Dimitri just seemed like the easiest out of the three of them to handle.
and of course they were expecting Dimitri to crack under that mask of a diligent prince. buT HOLY SHIT THEY WERE NOT PREPARED FOR THAT.
NB!Byleth has great observational and people skills but only bothers to put them to use if it’s to keep their siblings safe or to stir up harmless drama. Unfortunately, Jeralt’s established mistrust in the church and its thinly veiled hostility against potential adversaries caused NB!Byleth to focus more on Rhea’s behavior and less on Edelgard and Hubert’s.
Upon the reveal of the Flame Emperor, NB!Byleth and M!Byleth were shocked at their sister siding with the Empire. Her quick retreat with Edelgard left no time for an explanation.
M!Byleth’s reaction to his sister’s betrayal consisted of a mix anger, confusion and sadness. At least he had Claude to talk with and sort through his emotions in the short time before the confrontation at Garreg Mach.
NB!Byleth became uncharacteristically restless and anxious. Dimtri’s advice was to crush F!Byleth’s head alongside Edelgard’s.
they would never admit it out loud, but NB!Byleth, on multiple occasions, was at the brink of of taking M!Byleth and fleeing days before the battle at Garreg Mach even began. not out of fear, no. simply because NB!Byleth concluded it would have been easier to deal with their brother’s emotional turmoil as it was before it grew worse by all of their students potentially slaughtering their friends.
boy this is getting dark where are the lighter headcanons amiright? due to leading the life of mercenaries, one would expect the Eisner triplets to have bodies riddled with scars. however, some of these scars are unique to each one, such as:
ignored burns on F!Byleth’s hands, wrists and lower arms due to multiple cooking mishaps.
M!Byleth’s fingers decorated with healed over fine lines from cleaning weaponry.
The splotched, darkened and ragged skin littering NB!Byleth’s legs, from The Fishing Incident.
Despite being the shortest of the three, it’s common for F!Byleth to piggyback her siblings back to their respective rooms if she catches either one dozed off in the library late at night.
If we had to make their dynamic as basic as possible, it would be M!Byleth as the brains, F!Byleth as the brawn and NB!Byleth as the smooth talker.
The triplets have earned the nickname Severed Cerberus before the story starts. (Because we need something to replace the singular Ashen Demon, right?)
Father, Do You Love Me?
In which Byleth, an unnaturally stoic and odd child, wonders if their father loves them. Byleth’s sex can be interpreted however one wants!
Byleth always knew that they were an odd child; that they’re unlike any other child.
Of course travelling with a bunch of mercenaries allowed for the teal haired child to meet other children, not necessarily mingle with, in towns. They all laughed when around their parents, or cried whenever they hurt themselves. Byleth has never laughed or cried before. They attempted to laugh in front of their father’s mercenaries, which unfortunately frightened the puzzled individuals.
Byleth then observed these children playing with their parents and seeing how those parents hugged and smiled with them, uttering ‘I love you’ through and through. When they tried to mingle with the children in these strange games the children screamed and call them a strange monster who feels no emotions. One of the parents who had attended to their sobbing child scolded at Byleth and wondered aloud what sort of parent would love an emotionless freak like them.
It got Byleth wondering... does their father love them?
It was a daunting thought of the likes the teal haired child never experienced. It brought a fear that Byleth never thought of having. They never felt fear until now. Observing the families and children loving each other, and how the parents beamed with love and pride then made Byleth wonder if Jeralt not only didn’t love them but wished that he had a different child.
Byleth never cried ever, but at that moment they felt like they were just about to.
Visions
In which the students experience Byleth's phantom memories from Divine Pulse
Starring Nonbinary Byleth, Edelgard and Ferdinand
Sorry It's not that long

The sun of the Verdant Rain moon beat down, drawing sweat from everyone's skin. Byleth gasped for air after dodging a flying ax at their head. They coughed, trying their best to regain balance. Jacket flung to the side, they took up running again to block an attack from connecting with Ferdinand. The ball of magic slammed into their sword, knocking them back into the orange-haired boy. Ferdinand yelped at the sudden contact, falling back underneath his professor's weight.
"Sorry," Byleth grunted, heaving themself off the boy. They started to run to the next fight when they realized Ferdinand was still sprawled on his back, chest heaving. Apparently, a bandit also noticed, as he began charging towards the nobleman, who was still trying to regain his breath. The man raised his ax, aiming to strike it down right into Ferdinand's chest.
"No!" They screeched. A purple aura pulsed from Byleth's fingertips, spreading to cover the entirety of their vision. When it retracted again, they were standing beside Ferdinand, who was still lying on the ground. Byleth pulled him up onto their shoulder, carrying him away from the battlefield.
He was safe once more.
Ferdinand was okay.
