I don't like how european-american some people's views are. Everytime they come across something from a different country and culture, they're always trying to filter it through an american or european model. Then, they get upset when their ideas are truly incorrect and try to blame said country/culture at all costs.

They will make up your country's history, lie about your people's past and will spread hateful rhetoric meant to make you look like a danger to THEIR culture in hopes they can bring down and control YOURS. Anything that isn't european nor american is considered evil to them.

Their struggling economy is no invitation to make fun of them. Just because they dress differently is no excuse to treat them like garbage. Is it really that bad that they party often? If they eat with a pair of sticks while you eat with a fork, who really should be concerned? No one.

And everytime that country/culture speaks up about this, they're seen as violent brutes and a threat to the world. They will do anything in their power to shoot you down and keep you quiet. It doesn't even matter the origin of this american-european-centered group, because they will still treat you like you're the dirt under their boot.

I see myself falling into a lot of repeating patterns and I dont know im doing it until its already been done

I feel. So bad for it. I dont know I'm doing these things and I can't even identify it until the pain has already been caused and I dont know how to change that

I dont know what to look for until its too late. I dont know what of my behaviours leads me to be the way I am and I dont even think anyone is ever going to explain it to me because they probably think I already know

Its not fair to my friends, the people I know in general.

when i see someone complaining abt a fandom's fic, it always stings until i realise they're someone who struggles w writing their own. it's so much easier to criticise than to understand that other artists are likely going through the same struggles as them, that fic is a hobby done out of love, that often fic is about scratching an itch or realising a dream more than creating a flawless masterwork to appease the never-satisfied.

sure, some ppl approach fic to create the perfect piece, but everyone's idea of perfection is subjective. for some, it's abt technique, while for others, it's abt immersion; neither are wrong, but there's so many ways to approach perfection that blanket-judging all fic as 'bad', bc it doesn't meet a subjective standard, will chip away at both writers and readers. writers do this as a hobby, and end up demoralised by negative generalisation as much as they fight their own struggles in their craft. when this affects writers' outputs, readers have less to enjoy, regardless of whether their taste matches or differs from the ones judging. besides, it's hard to enjoy reading when those writing feel like they're throwing words into the aether.

in all honesty, so many ppl point the finger at others in judgement bc writing fic is so hard for them to accomplish, let alone 'the perfect fic'. often, they're the ones who judge themselves most harshly, but that doesn't make it any easier on those being judged. why point the finger anyway? what does one stand to gain?

i'm tired of writers deciding to solve their perfectionism through harsh, generalised criticism towards a fandom at large. i believe in you, even if you don't believe in yourself. write fic, even if it doesn't come out right, and keep practicing your craft; one day, you won't be stuck drafting, and that fic will come out far more easily than you'll ever expect.

until then, dragging others down won't keep you afloat.
