I'm going to sound like a total bitch to anyone who doesn't have misophonia so probaby not worth reading if you aren’t and cannot save me :L

I'm making husband so sad. For the first fortnight he had a bad cold and being next to him in bed, the wheezing of his nose, the sniffling/coughing and snoring was unbearable. He had never snored previously, but now it hasn't really left. We are currently in temporary housing which by chance has a small second bedroom with a single bed. Most nights husband been happy to sleep there so I can sleep. His snoring isn't nearly as bad as it was a month ago but every miniscule sound is driving me mad. Often I will be nearly asleep then from silence he makes a snort kind of noise and it scares the shit out of me, causing me to jump and then he will usually wake up and feel awful.

Sometimes we will go to bed together and plan to stay there until it bothers me or he is nearly asleep then moves, but he gets drowsy quickly and I feel so horrible making him move, into another cold room or worse waking him in the middle of the night because I want to strangle him instead.

Misophonia is ruining my fucking life. It always used to be a daytime thing, nights were my bliss and refuge from sound, it was eating and talking and LOUD things and repetitive noises plus visual triggers that upset me. I struggled through the day to know that nighttime would come. But its obviously escalated since I was with him last (reminder that I moved here 7 weeks ago after 14 months not seeing him), I got so used to sleeping alone, stretching out, relishing in the dark silence and moving into a place where there is traffic and a street lamp near our window, a man innocently BREATHING ffs next to me, is too much..

Husband misses me. He jokes that he is banished to the other room, but the jovial comments makes me hate myself. I want him with me, I miss hugs and spooning and all that as well, its so unfair. Quite a few times early on I would move into the spare room because it would be 4 am without rest and I was delirious in pain/exhaustion. But the mattress is so thin and springs dug into me, husband knows the big mattress is kind to my fibromyalgia so willingly goes onto the small (he is pretty tall) cramped bed in my place.

He isn't snoring constantly, or loudly like you'd all imagine in your head, he isn't purposefully doing a thing wrong but I cannot sleep with him in the bed. I know of many many couples who have seperate bedding, they're happily married, just the sleeping part they have their own space. I love that idea, husband wouldn't mind too much I don't think. BUT we will move soon and 93% chance it will be a smaller flat, one bedroom and even if we DID get a two bedroom we cannot take any mattress or bed, furniture etc that belongs to this house.

I am terrified he is going to hate me, privately, that he will think misophonia is a great excuse to cover up not wanting to be with him or to prevent intimacy. That, he is having the worst nights sleep ever because of that bed but won't admit it. That his loveliness of sacrifice is saving my sanity but we will move and it will all be gone..
