small needless rant
i get my laundry done in a very timely manner, but everytime, i end up responsible to folding other peoples clothes because they’ve left them in the dryer... and then i end up not folding my own clothes
Social media is terrible after a breakup...I’m literally consumed with seeing if he likes or watches my stuff...and it’s not even my main account. It’s for my dog aka our dog. I can’t let go. We live so close to each other. I haven’t lived close to an ex since high school. I am miserable. And I have a new boy. This makes no sense... yes I love him and I will always love him...we were supposed to be together forever. I’m just not feeling it with the new guy probably because I haven’t given him a full chance but I don’t know how to when I’m still in love with Cody...my life is a mess
I follow 243 blogs and atm it doesn't feel like a lot cause my dash isn't moving fast enough QQ
I know this has been said a thousand times a thousand ways, but Carmilla has done a lot of things that I didn’t expect it to do for me. It made me literally want to write pages and pages of analysis about the technicality and theatrics, but also on the interactions between characters (which I’ve sort of done). It makes me want to write stories of my own again - I’ve been getting stalled out on the stories I try to write for years now. With finishing my master’s degree and interviewing to be a teacher and everything, I’ve been too busy to freewrite or read on my own. I only started watching Carmilla a few weeks ago, and I’m so glad I did. I feel like I’m part of a queer community again - something I felt disastrously torn away from for the past year. I have a few LGBTQIAetc friends, but most of my friends are straight and not even a little bit part of the community. I’ve missed having people who get excited about things in the same way that I do - completely and fully immersed in the excitement of being excited and wanting to talk at top speeds just to make sure that there are no stones left unturned, no theories untried. Carmilla makes me a little sad, a little wistful about going into the “real world” - I want to be a teacher, don’t get me wrong. I love teaching, I love sharing insights with students and watching them learn and grow over the course of units and months and the year. It’s a certain kind of magic that most people don’t see - and they certainly don’t notice as much when they’re the students going through it. But I’m going to miss being in school and living in dorms (though I haven’t lived in the dorms for years now), I’m going to miss being surrounded by people who share my excitement, who share my fears and hopes.
I sometimes think what it would be like if Le Fanu knew what Carmilla has been adapted into. What do long-dead people think when we transform their work into something different? Would they be offended or would they be glad that they were remembered? Would they consider it stealing or would it be the highest form of flattery? I can only hope that Le Fanu would love it like we do.
i’m really excited about what yahoo is doing? like they’re functioning like a tv network, making shows and having them available in one place for free (with ads of course), but they’re different from sites like netflix or hulu because those sites, being a compilation of stuff from other networks, are less reliable in what content they will or won’t have, or in netflix and hulu plus’ case where you would need to have paid service to access certain stuff. also by having their shows online, they have a more accurate read on ratings than television does and they have less restrictions creatively. it acknowledges and works with the changes in society while still functioning like a tv network and i find that fascinating especially thinking about the implications for the future. i know other sites have done stuff like this before but i’m just thinking about it because of community and i love thinking about how this is an indication of a huge shift in how we consume media.
My god this class...
It's a 101 class, but I swear its harder than it needs to be. "Midterm exam is written. Study hard, it will be challenging." I just feel so ugh, sure its my fault for not being on top of my game, but jeez man. It's a 101 class can you just...not make it hard? We throw enough money at this university as it is >__>
