Also the carer who refused to help me change and left me in wet clothes and bedding for 16 hours is basically not facing any consequences beyond “extra training and supervision”.
You really don’t need extra training to know that leaving someone in wet clothes overnight just hours after they had surgery is completely unacceptable.
actually yeah while i’m at it im sorry for the huge wall of text and i know i’ve made so many posts about it before but i really wanna talk about it again. dakota cole does not celebrate his birthday like a normal person and something about that makes me so sick. he says “i just turned eighteen” at the end of s2ep29 after the statue/volcano/asking-for-help challenge. and i know him saying that was just a bit/joke but it essentially became canon and it . it honestly makes so much sense for him to arbitrarily decide it’s his birthday on a random day in december and just move on, not caring about the actual date. now this could have simply been because dakota didn’t feel right celebrating his birthday when the mission at hand was finding ashe and things were getting so dire. but . think about it . dakota’s parents died when he was like eight or something, and he was entrusted to alaska, who fell into addiction. he dealt with neglect + financial instability + like every problem ever and so his birthday, as well as the winter/holiday season as a whole, likely ended up being pretty miserable for him as alaska could afford less and less money-wise and health-wise (+ that’s also when winter break was, and as some1 who used to be in a kinda similar situation, a lot of kids will use school as a lifeline/distraction/escapism from their home lives) and so i personally believe that he left it all behind and celebrates neither his birthday nor any big holidays anymore, or at least doesn’t celebrate them nearly to the degree that they are “normally” celebrated. he just picks a random day in december and is like “cool i’m a year older now” and ignores all else and doesn’t really tell anybody or make any deal about it and i jsut. airiwkogjrh
Are there any other intersex people who feel like SIG framework is incomplete? I think it's useful for some, but it kind of assumes that people get gendered solely off their documents and into binary terms, and directly in ways reflective of their intersexness being visible to others or not.
Maybe changing it to SIS (Socially Imposed Sex) would be more accurate, since it assumes gender is the same as the sex imposed on you by society (and as society views it, your "true identity").
I know my experience isn't typical. For a good portion of my life, I had an imposed gender that wasn't medical- it was from child neglect and abuse. I wasn't a little girl to them, I was a creature kept in the basement and a threat to other children. The refusal to binarize in the eyes of a binary society can be weaponized for abuse, but what would my SIG be? My documents had all one letter, but that doesn't matter how I was treated socially, since most people did not have access to that. Would it be inconsistent because how my gender was treated socially has changed variably, from girl to creature to confused girl to transmasc, to the idea of "invader cis woman who wants to feel special" (I'm transfem) etc? My gender imposition has varied so widely in ways both before and after knowing I was intersex that I have no idea if SIG even applies to me.
i think that would be up to you to decide how you fit in the framework or if youd like to use it at all. that does sound like an inconsistent socially imposed gender to me, even if the gendered expectations that were imposed on you didnt go from "boy" to "girl" and back.
i also feel like the framework is a bit... lacking, in the way of "what do we mean by socially imposed gender"? how a "girl" will be treated varies widely from family to family and culture to culture. how an assumed queer "boy" will be treated will be different from how an assumed cisheterosexual "boy" will be treated. how an autistic "girl" will be treated will be different to how an allistic "girl" will be treated.
autistic and abused children may be forcibly degendered. "girls" with anger issues may be forcibly masculinized. assumed queer "boys" may be forcibly feminized. this isnt because their literal gender is viewed differently, it mean that how they preform that gender is viewed as "wrong" or "incomplete".
i do think from an intersex perspective saying "socially imposed sex" would be helpful in a lot of regards. i was never really gendered much as a kid (i did not preform gender very well due to autism) but my sex was constantly mixed up even in my family due to my intersexuality. it would help for being able to discuss things like IGM, forced HRT, and the insistence on putting intersex children into a strict box of sex, rather than gender.
after a lifetime of being treated like shit for 'being a bad housemate' no matter how desperately i try to do otherwise, because even before my current circus of Fuck i have always been traumatized and disabled, and my housemates have consistently treated me like a nonperson and dismissed--sometimes violently--any needs i express or attempt i make to build infrastructure supporting those needs, you'd think it might be at least a little cathartic to be in a situation where i have to just completely abandon being a good housemate and start doing asshole things to survive, because these people are so fucking irresponsible and dangerous to communicate with that if i am cooperative or considerate i will suffer and die. amazingly enough it just makes me feel wretched

backstory
Kitty grew up in a sleepy town that felt dull for her adventurous spirit.
Her home life was tough, marked by neglect and abuse from her parents.
To escape both the abuse and boredom, Kitty rarely stayed home.
As a young child, she often wandered the streets or visited local establishments.
Her favorite place was a rundown arcade that hadn’t been updated since the 80s.
Despite its shabby exterior, the arcade felt exciting and reflective of herself.
As the arcade declined, Kitty taught herself to repair the ancient machines.
The arcade owners appreciated her help, and she became beloved by local kids.
Kitty’s intelligence shone in school; she thrived academically despite her rambunctious behavior.
She became proficient in French, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean, teaching herself as another means to escape her troubled home, found in the library almost as much as she was in the arcade.
In her teens, she started making YouTube videos about arcade games and repairs, leading her to competitive gaming.
While she loved competing, affording entrance fees was challenging, so she created more content for income.
Her journey led her to Seoul, hoping to tap into the bustling gaming industry.
Excited by a sapphic-exclusive web series, she applied for Seoulmates to grow her audience and connections.

Her love for languages reflects her curiosity about different cultures and highlights how incredible her mind can be.
Kitty often uses humor as a coping mechanism, lightening the mood in difficult situations.
Kitty is driven by a desire to create a safe space for others, inspired by her own experiences in the arcade.
Her experiences made her who she is, but she's not very open about the abuse she endured. If anything, she'll mention it in a joking manner because that's the only way she knows how to cope with it.
Smart is a family name, which is why it's her middle name. She often pulls out the line 'smart is my middle name' when someone compliments her brains.
As established in Arlecchino's story event, there was a point in time Freminet did call Lyney and Lynette by 'brother' and 'sister'. While he doesn't deny that the House of the Hearth members are his family and sees them as such, he hasn't really referred to them as that anymore after he's past a certain age.
There are several plausible reasons for that: The core of it however will be his tendency to physically and emotionally retreat into himself whenever he is distressed or upset. As much as he calls Lyney out for shouldering everything upon himself, Freminet is also quite guilty of doing something similar.
Childhood abandonment:
- Freminet was given up by his mother to the Hearth when he was very young. Prior to discovering the truth behind why she did, he would hope and wait for her to come back. Over time, he came to accept that she wouldn't and stopped looking for her. In the eyes of a child: that is abandonment and can be devastating. If someone you loved with all your heart can leave you like that, what guarantees that it won't happen again?
Witnessing death:
- Freminet also witnessed the eventual loss of many children in the Hearth who succumbed to Loneliness Syndrome. He witnessed how that affected everyone else, how that affected Father and how things have to continue moving on despite it all. There wasn't really any emotional availability to be found in Arlecchino's teachings, for she herself had very skewed views of dealing with her own. He's not an idiot: he knows what they do is dangerous and that he must be prepared to lose family at every possible turn. It doesn't mean it won't hurt when it happens. It doesn't mean Freminet stopped holding his breath and bracing for impact.
Complex:
As close as he is with the twins, he will never truly be a part of them. He will never have a bond like they have with one another. And though they do their best to care for him and show that they are there for/with him, he sometimes still feels like he doesn't belong. He's the odd one out. He compares himself to them quite a bit even though it's clear he loves them too. It's hard.
Honestly he knows that the twins are trying hard to emotionally connect with him, but they also know not to push him. Slowly but surely, he's learning to try and reciprocate that effort when he can. It's just hard.
