I'm sorry but I have to ask. By deer poop do you mean a kind of plant or actual deer poop???

Actual deer poop! Herbivore poop tends to have more nutrients left in it, in terms of partially broken down plant matter, since it’s so hard to digest. There’s a lot of animals that will engage in coprophagia/poop-eating in order to have another chance at the nutrients, or to help replenish good bacteria for their gut. Since hermit crabs are omnivorous scavengers, it does make sense that they would go for that type of thing as well & a lot of people have found that they love it! So there’s several crab food stores that sell dried deer poop, moose poop, etc. Wild animal poop should be collected from pesticide-free areas, and domestic animal poop should come from animals that aren’t on any medications & haven’t been recently. People also offer poop from chinchillas, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. Generally considered best to stick to just herbivores though, as far as I’ve seen.
