Lent has started, and here I'm again with a series of everyday drawings (which will be sold later on, with the profits going to charities) Thanks to everyone who voted in the poll; most votes went to mythological beings. So, Greek mythology it is! 🐟 the originals are once again being sold HERE ✨

Hey did you guys know there might be three different Cetos? Ceto mother of Medusa, Ceto the Oceanid and Ceto the Nereid. Now it’s not impossible that they’re all supposed to be the same Ceto but with different parents (and this is the one and only mention of the nereid one) but I wanted an excuse to draw a monster woman and make at least one Mermay art.
I’ve read enough fanfiction to realize there’s a tendency to erase the Nereids from Poseidon’s life. It’s strange, I think of Bacchylides and Euripides, and how Poseidon literally sends a sea monster to Ethiopia to devour the daughter of the queen who dared to insult his wife and sisters-in-law, and I also think of all the ancient artistic depictions that show Nereids with Poseidon.
Tritone e Nereide by Roberto Ferri
Andromeda: Mom, why am I chained to a rock?
Cassiopeia: To appease Poseidon. I pissed him off by claiming that you’re prettier than his wife and her sisters
Andromeda: Oh yay! I’m a sacrifice!
