Netspace email account POP3 server details

With Netspace having been taken over by iiNet and their website dissolved, finding simple information like the server details for accessing email via a mail client such as Outlook for old Netspace customers with email addresses belonging to the ‘netspace.net.au’ domain is becoming difficult. For configuring a POP3 account with Outlook 2011 on OS X Mountain Lion, I found these settings worked:

incoming mail server: pop.netspace.net.au

outgoing mail server: smtp.netspace.net.au

Despite Netscape’s systems seeming to have been merged with iiNet’s, the iiNet mail server settings mentioned on the iiNet website and around the web did not work for us:

incoming mail server: mail.iinet.com.au (SSL enabled, port 993)

outgoing mail server: mail.iinet.com.au (SSL enabled, port 25)

Looks like I’ll have to eat my words. iiNet do have this information on their website, here. Finding this page with the table of all the connectivity settings for iiNet group email access would’ve been very handy yesterday. Here they are for anyone who misses the page on the iiNet website like I did:

If you have an iiNet Group mailbox, but your internet connection is with a non-iiNet Group provider, you’ll need to set the incoming mail server as listed above in order to receive email. To send emails, you’ll need to either:

A) Set your outgoing mail server as listed above, and ensure that outgoing authentication is enabled, using the username and password for your iiNet Group email account; or

B) Set your outgoing mail server as listed below according to your internet service provider, with outgoing authentication disabled (unless noted).
