Book 37 of 2021. I read #marishapessl 's Night Film a couple of years back and it was revelation. Intense, gripping, atmospheric, dark and full of twists and turns. It's a book I highly recommend. I always meant to read more of her work. I finally got around to doing just that. #NeverworldWake is a YA thriller of sorts. A YA groundhog day tale of sorts. A group of friends end up in a near-fatal car crash. Then a stranger comes to them informing them that they are in a place called Neverworld, a limbo, maybe even purgatory. And only one of them can come out of it alive. One of them can survive. But it has to be a result of an unanimous vote. One of them has to be voted to live. An impossible decision. An endless loop of fights, grief, denial and a difficult decision looming over them. Interesting, to say the least. Well-written and the fear, confusion and shock of these characters were written achingly well. There was also a mystery that was delved into and solved. An entertaining book. But...I guess I am not a big fan of groundhog day tales. So this wasn't exactly my cup of tea. The writing kept me hooked though and was for me, this book's silver lining. . . . #whimsybookworm2021reads #thriller #neverworldwake #fiction #booksofinstagram #booksbooksbooks #bookstagram #unitedbookstagram #bibliophile #ereader #ya #yalit #youngadult #quickreads #booksmakemehappy #morebookslessalgorithm #booksofig #readwomen #readmore #mystery (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNKzkrgpDIF/?igshid=j4drsiqn1uw8
