I can watch every single heartbreaking moment of This Is Us multiple times and be relatively OK.
Jack dying? Horrible but I have seen it a few times.
Train Episode? I definitely cry but I manage.
Randall's breakdown? Totally fine.
BUT the scene with Uncle Nicky at the airport and the snowglobes break? I skip it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
It is the most heartbreaking scene of the entire show, full stop.
THIS IS US: JACK AND NICKY
Does anyone ever think about Jack Pearson always telling Rebecca that the kids are tough, that they can handle things. Sure, he's very protective of them and would do anything for them, but he was constantly worried about coddling them.
Then we see what he was like with Nicky growing up. We have their Dad constantly making comments about Nicky not taking care of himself because Jack is always doing so for him, making comments about Nicky being coddled.
I often see similarities in how he was with Nicky and his kids, but this is a difference. At least imo. And I think it makes sense.
I think it's likely that he felt that by "coddling" Nicky (he didn't, I don't think, but he had his Dad making comments about it often enough that it probably stuck in his mind) he left him unprepared to face the war. That if he'd let Nicky handle things himself more often, maybe he would've been able to handle it better and maybe everything that went wrong wouldn't.
Nicky just wasn't made for War, just like most people. And that's not a bad thing, and I don't think Jack would think it a bad thing. In fact, I think it's probably something he loved about him. But I definitely think he felt guilty for "not allowing him" to be prepared. And I think that's part of why he tried not to coddle the kids too much, because he was terrified of making the same mistake.
Idk, I have a lot of thoughts about Jack and Nicky, and things Jack would've done for Nicky that he then would've done for the Big Three. I love them all, and Jack and Nicky break my heart every time I so much as think of them.
oh the Vietnam flashbacks break my heart how Jack goes out of his way to protect his brother Nicky
How they go through every stage of life in their relationship from when he was born to Vietnam
how Jack's father was nice and never drank...........this damn SHOW AND Jack

This Is Us Season 6 Episode 17
Rebecca
Oh this is just sad.
Oh not her on a train in her mind!!
WILLIAM?!
Oh this is just depressing. Why do I love this show?
No Kate might not make it!
Nicky is hilarious. Do we draw really sad straws?
Beth is in dream train world? Makes sense. She’s the best. Oh she’s saying her goodbyes.
OH GOD THE TRAIN IS A METAPHOR FOR HER DEATH I’M SO SLOW (or maybe I just didn’t want to see it)
Jack better be at the end of this train.
OH THE KID VERSIONS ARE WITH THE ADULT VERSIONS THIS IS PRECIOUS
MIGUEL
Oh man she’s waiting for Kate.
Where’s Jack?
“This is quite sad isn’t it?” No shit Rebecca.
“If something makes you sad at the end, it must have been pretty good when it was happening.” Almost like “what is grief if not love everlasting?”
STOP IT WILLIAM! I’M ALREADY CRYING HARD ENOUGH
Where the hell is Jack on this train?
THERE HE IS
Randall and co
Beth said I’m getting my food, get out of my way.
Of course it’s Deja who comes to see him and check on him.
Randall will never be able to stay cool. Awe he’s so excited for her.
I love Beth. She knows all why do they pretend otherwise?
Randall no. You got this. Just relax. You’ll get it right. Y’all always do.
MALIK!
Kevin and co
I’m mad that Kevin hasn’t had a lot of time on screen.
I’ve always liked that painting.
Oh him and Randall are avoiding saying goodbye.
Kate and co
Oh Toby’s here!
THE KIDS ARE SO BIG NOW! I say as if I haven’t seen them as adults.
Where’s Kate? I know she isn’t dead cause she’s there when Jack is an adult.
Toby is hilarious. “You like me better than Philip right?”
Miscellaneous
Who are these random people? Oh God there’s going to be an accident and this boy is going to be seriously injured. What did I tell you?
Oh. He’s not so random after all. But who is he to the Pearson family? Is he Deja’s SO?
Marcus Brooks. Must remember that name.
This whole episode is so sad. I’ve been crying practically the whole time.
Y’all I’m bawling.
Wait so if Deja is with Malik, who’s this Marcus brooks person?
….why is the brooks kids dad with Jack?! OH GOD THIS IS THE NIGHT JACK DIED NO IM NOT READY FOR THIS
Oh my God he passed on the saying before he died. I can not. This show KILLS ME
Oh God they had the same doctor. What gets me is that Jack would’ve wanted it to happen that way. He would’ve wanted the kid to live even if it meant his death.
This episode is wrecking me.
I’m not ready for it to end. I’m not ready for next week.
