Day 22 comes from #niktober2018 again with angeilc. Hawkgirl may appear angelic on the outside, but she certainly is not on the inside. I did her costume from the 'Justice League' cartoon. Today we have Day 21 from the #niktober2018 prompt list with luminescent. I thought, who is more luminous than Dagger? This is my first time doing a whole piece with gouache, even if it's a little tiny one. I think I'm getting the hang of this stuff a little bit more. I still have to work on my layering technique some more, because layering with this is nothing like with acrylic or watercolour. It's Day 14 and time for another entry from @nikolas_tower list with the prompt nocturnal. What could be more nocturnal than a vampire? Day 19 is here and we have a prompt I was very excited to do. From #monstober is harionago, and I combined it with #niktober2018 and the prompt mirror. A harionago is a yokai from Japanese folklore. For those who don't know about them, yokai are a group of supernatural beings who are said to live throughout Japan. Demon isn't the right translation, because they aren't all malevolent and don't have any sort of devil or master to follow. Perhaps they're more comparable to the fey of Celtic folklore. Supernatural beings who have their own motivations and may help or harm. Now back to the harionago. They always appear as a woman, and upon an initial glance they look like a normal woman. Look closer though, and you'll notice that her hair is different, it moves almost like it has a life of its own. Look closer still, and you're sure that it must be moving of its own accord against the wind. The ends of her hair look different, thicker somehow. By the time you get close enough to truly get a good look it's too late, she has ensnared you. You see, the harionago can control her hair as easily as you can your fingers. Her hair also has barbs on the ends, to slash or trap her victims. She tends to prey on young men, but only those who laugh or smile back at her after she first laughs at them. Then, most gruesomely, she eats them. Day 17 is here and the prompt is from #niktober2018 with dragon. I decided to do a little bit of fanart with Temeraire. For anyone who hasn't heard of him, Temeraire is from a book series by Naomi Novik. It's an absolutely wonderful series that takes place during an alternate history of the Napoleanic War, with dragons. As a history nerd and a lover of fantasy, this series is a delight to read. I have been so excited for Day 16! When I saw that for #monstober it was Dracula's bride, and for #niktober2018 it was komorebi, I couldn't wait to combine the two! Komorebi is a Japanese word that we don't have an equivalent for in English. It describes the look of when sunlight filtres through the trees onto something, giving a play of light and shadow.
