Going genuinely insane about Scum Villain and ship dynamics recently (again…)
My yammering is below the cut.
Bingqiu honestly has the least amount of ramped up thoughts because they’re enough freaks in the canon material. I do so enjoy when people make them weirder. Yes, LBH is super clingy, jealous, and toxic. SQQ (SY) likes that!! He may act like he doesn’t because he’s so far in the closet most of the series that he may as well be in Narnia as well as repeatedly denying his own sexuality, even to himself. However, he likes the possessive nature of his husband. He likes being needed and needing someone like LBH, someone he thought was the coolest even before he was more than just a character. I also just like people writing them getting more comfortable being their full, true selves around each other and excepting how weird the other is. I adore it!!
BingLiuShen adds a whooooole new level of freak for freak. LiuShen is oblivious x you have saved my life and now I owe you a life debt. LQG doesn’t like owing people, but I feel like, once he gets closer to SY, he sees the difference between SJ & SY, and he falls in love with SY (unfortunately for LQG’s own personal mental gymnastics). If LBH is a puppy following SY around, LQG is also a faithful dog, following the person who saved him. They are both loyal in their own ways, and I love that for SY, the runner up for “King of Belittling Myself”. BingLiu, on the other hand, fits into a more violent courting ritual that neither of them were really aware of. They both love the same man and had an ownership war over said man’s dead body for 5 years. You’re truly the only people who can understand each other. There’s gotta be some camaraderie here that turns into something more as time goes on.
Moshang is probably the tamest of the main couples, and that’s saying something! Yes, they play the long game of trust chicken on one side and “my boss beats me but maybe I like it??” on the other side, but they are so loyal to each other. MBJ is waiting for the day that SQH (XF) betrays him, and SQH keeps proving him wrong at every turn. SQH is there to save MBJ when they’re young, he’s there when MBJ takes his title, the fucking bit with him rescuing MBJ from falling at the end of the main storyline!! These two are so ride or die for each other and don’t even know that they’re married already at this point. They show their love for each other in their own way, and it makes my heart so happy 😭
Cumplane would’ve been soulmates from hell in another universe 😂 These two get on each other’s nerves all the time and understand each other in a way that no one else can, partially due to being the only two transmigrators (that we know of 👀). Despite his constant dragging of PIDW, SY, in my opinion, is kind of a reason that parts of the original novel got better. He gave XF critiques (all the time), but I think XF listened to some of the more reasonable ones when he could. These two are the perfect partners in crime, and they’re both so dumb in their own ways 😂 They make each other better and worse, and they practically married demon versions of each other! These two would be sooooo insufferable if they were real people, and I love that for them lol. Ride or die and two peas in a pod. I adore them 😭
QiJiu makes me physically ill, I swear. I wish the best for them, but I also want them to make each other worse lol. These two are the kings of not fucking talking about feelings to each other. If they’d mentioned one tiny thing about their shared past (i.e. why YQY couldn’t come back for SJ in time), I feel like most issues between them would be solved. But noooooooo! These two are so painfully emotionally constipated, that they’d rather ignore the problem and hurt themselves as well as the other than address the problem. It’s equally as entertaining as it is infuriating. Childhood friends to enemies (one sided) to sect brothers to lovers (potentially). Delicious 👌🏼
MingLing, my beloved! These two boss ass queens own my heart! There’s not enough content for them out there, and that’s a crime 😤 SHL is such an interesting character who could do soooo much better than Bingge. I like to think of MBJ as SHL’s big bro, so MBJ and LQG duking it out over their sisters being together cracks me up! SHL is everything demons aspire to be and is such a fun example of what my friend likes to call “patricide is okay sometimes!” 😂 LMY is also such a cool character that I would’ve loved to have seen more from. She has rock solid ideals and is loyal to those she holds dear and respects, while also being a feral fangirl. I adore her to pieces! (I also love AUs where she is also a transmigrator. Demons getting their otherworldly humans 👌🏼👌🏼) These two together have similar vibes to BingLiu. They would be so feral together, and Bingge’s two OG main wives getting together instead of with him? Perfection 👌🏼 (Sometimes, I like NingMingLing as well. One, three boss ass queens instead of just two. Two, the name is hilarious!)

Sha Hualing and Liu Mingyan would have liked 6 kids but Sha Hualing is a terrible parent.
She knows none of their names for sure and gets icked out when the little ones touch her and gives the older (by which I mean 5 and up) knives and lets them make fires when she's supposed to be watching them
Liu Mingyan allows her absent parenting because letting her be an active parent is a worse idea
Ning Yingying is the second mom.
