Happy Lunar New Year! Chúc Mừng Năm Mới Whether you're eating a grand feast with your family or a small dinner with your close friends (or in my case a small kbbq with my pho boy), I hope you're all stuffing yourselves good. Wishing you all good health and prosperity - cause knowing most foodies, we need that

Chinese New Year cake. My father-in-law always makes this sweet steamed rice cake every Chinese New Year to celebrate this festival. We usually have it on display instead of eating just like gingerbread houses during Christmas. I know it seems like a waste but these New Year cakes are way too pretty to eat.

I like sushi... a lot

Shiro. Another good nigiri place in Vancouver! Shiro always has super fresh sashimi. Their tuna sashimi is honestly one of the best we had anywhere hands down. We featured their tuna don last month check out the earlier post. It tastes so buttery that it wasn't even necessary to order toro. Every kind of nigiri tasted really good with the exception of whole scallop one which we weren't too into. Like we said on the previous post we really need to come back to get their limited quantity items like their blue fin tuna boxed sushi

My type of holiday dessert spread. Why does holiday season feel more hectic than usual? I only have time to check out maybe one of the many Christmas event - which one would you guys recommend?

BBQ Pork and Sausage We had a relatively simple Winter Solstice dinner instead of a big, fancy feast. These tasty BBQ meats are a great addition to our simple dinner.

Of course when you're at the Christmas Market, you have to show at least one photo of all the yummy food! Was excited to try the Chimney Cake - a traditional Hungarian sweet pastry. They're baked ready to order and extremely tasty - nice and warm for the tummy when you're in the cold!
