getting used to my new name and pronouns is really hard. i’ve grown up with being called summer and she/her. i never truly despised my name or pronouns, but they also never fully expressed who i am, and i know there’s something better waiting for me. it’s so hard to go thru everyday waiting for the moment where i’ll finally start calling myself ezra in my head. despite loving the name more than anything and getting butterflies every time someone calls me that, it’s hard to break this habit of what i’ve been called for 17 yrs and also what i continue to be called every day cause i’m not out irl.
idk what this is. a vent i guess? idk lol. but if anyone has any advice on how to get used to my new name and pronouns pls let me know <33
I usually go by my birthname but I've been thinking about changing it to a kind of more androgynous name for a while now and I really like Floh, in my language that means flea and I think it's kind of funny bc if I tell somebody my name is Floh they'll think it's Flo as a nickname for Florentine or Florian but it's just a the name for a fucking bug that drinks your blood and lives in your hair hah
Does anyone else feel like they won’t be able to choose their name/pronouns until they present how they want to?
Like I currently present pretty feminine despite the fact I’m not a big fan of it, and whenever I try to choose a name or stick to one set of pronouns (to be fair I may just be indifferent to pronouns, figuring that out) I feel like I can’t find anything that fits because the person I stare at in the mirror *is not me*, I feel like I’m trying to name a concept of myself that doesn’t exist yet, and I don’t really know how that person looks, so nothing feels correct.
Of course presentation doesn’t have to do with your name or your gender necessarily, but it’s important to me because of the way I experience the world, so I very much want to *look* like my name, however at the moment I don’t look like any name to myself, so I feel sort of stranded.
