Any time I get tired I hustle start thinking about the sleeping habits of characters. So let me share my headcanons about Star Wars characters in the context of my New Republic AU and how they sleep!

Kylo Ren: Chronic insomniac due to both stress and the constant abuse from Snoke. When he does sleep it’s hulled up in some dark hidden corner of the ship where he can actually feel some modicum of safety.

Poe Dameron: he’s pretty sure sleeping in the cockpit of his x-wing is going to do serious damage to his back one of these days but that’s not going to stop him from doing so. He has a bed and a room of his own in Ambassador Organa’s home he’s just going on missions so often he just doesn’t really use it

Rey: Capable of falling asleep anywhere and also wakes up at the slightest hint of danger. Can fall asleep standing up, has done so, didn’t get caught. Didn’t really have a mattress until recently, she slept in a hammock, she thought her first bed was the height of luxury and went wild getting pillows, blankets and stuffed animals to cover it.

Finn: slept mainly on cots most of his life and can easily fall asleep on most things. After joining with Poe he started having night terrors and would wake up covered in sweat and shaking. He prefers not to have a blanket.

Rose: sleeping in Orbak stables most of your life gets you used to sleeping in strange places. Rose can sleep on anything, anywhere, at any time. Its lights out, where’s Rose? She’s somehow fallen asleep inside of a cabinet no one knows when she got up there but they’re gonna give her a pillow and blanket and just leave her for the night.

Reasons Why Joel SmallishBeans Would Know Cursive:

He's British.

He can gloat on it since no one can read anymore (specifically the Young Ones.) + ego boost

It impresses people (specifically Lizzie and Grian who probably has chicken scrawl cause haha bird and nobody would expect him to write in cursive.)

Someone (probably Scott) showed him their immaculate cursive skills and he needed to one-up them.

It's actually fast, useful, and pretty which adds to ✨builder aesthetic✨.

He found a random competition in the middle of Britain for "Best Cursive Wins a Prize" or smth and he entered in for fun and got too invested since it's a yearly thing and "Lizzie! I have to enter; it's tradition at this point!"

Reasons Why Etho Would Know Cursive:

Same reasons as Joel except he's Canadian and uses it solely for the competition mentioned above (Canadian version, obvi) and for no reason else because Etho's just like that and would probably write in it for fun since he forgets it half the time. I like to think that when he writes letters, he tries really hard to write it fancily enough so he's not "washed up" but without too much effort, y'know?

i love senku so much because, while he doesn't act very friendly and he's not shown to be interested in romance, one of his main traits is how deeply he cares about his friends and the people around him in general, so much so that it's considered a weakness by those he's against. and honestly, even if it wasn't intentional, i'm so happy there's a possibly aroace character who is basically the opposite of emotionless and apathetic
