Book Review of No Vain Loss (NOS#3) by M. C. Frank
This book took me to Mercury and back, and I loved every second of it! I picked up No Vain Loss late one night and got through fifty pages before I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore. So, eager to return to the icy tundra, I picked it up the next day and didn’t put it down until I had turned the very last page! Binge reading is definitely a thing wherever M.C. Frank’s books are concerned, holy macaroni this woman is amazing!
No Vain Loss features an epic battle that has been mounting since the first page of book one. It kept me on the edge of my seat with sweaty hands and wide eyes until I read the very last word! The plot is engaging and fast-paced, and is perfect for every fan of the No Ordinary Star trilogy who is ready for the finale.
As I was reading No Vain Loss, I was continually reminded of the people close to me, the people I hold dear, the people I love. Our two main characters, Felix and Astra, have a relationship that brings my own relationships to my mind, and I love them for it.
Not only do these characters remind me of the people I love, they are also incredibly well-written. These wonderful and endearing characters have strengths and weaknesses, pitfalls and victories, hard times and good times.
No Vain Loss ended in such a way that simultaneously pleased my aching heart and left room that could be expounded upon in the future!
And the title! OH the title! It’s a beautiful title, and it was tied in so spectacularly well.
I was very satisfied with No Vain Loss (and honestly the same goes for the whole No Ordinary Star trilogy), and I believe that you will be too! Happy reading!
