Sugar isn’t the enemy. Fear is.
For years, I treated sugar like it was out to destroy me. One cookie? “Ugh, I failed.” A piece of cake? “What’s wrong with me?”
So I banned it. Hid it. Swore it off forever.
…And then binge-ate it in secret.
Here’s the truth I finally learned:
🚫 Restriction fuels craving.
When I finally let myself eat what I truly wanted — without judgment — something surprising happened: I didn’t want it all the time anymore. Sugar stopped being this magical, forbidden fruit. It became just… food. Sometimes great. Sometimes meh. Sometimes not even worth it.
I started watching myself, not controlling myself.
I slowed down and actually tasted what I was eating.
I asked: Do I really want this? Or am I just tired, bored, or hungry?
Sugar wasn’t the problem. Fear was.
Fear of losing control. Fear of gaining weight. Fear of “being bad.”
But we don’t need fear to guide our choices. We need curiosity, gentleness, and real connection with ourselves.
I still eat sweets. I just don’t fear them anymore.
And that changed everything.
