I started reading, “Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries” and it’s been so freaking good! I’ve read a few hit or miss books since the Folk of the Air series, but this one is a keeper! I love it. Not done with the book yet, so this isn’t my final thought on it. However I adore the two main characters. A prickly and socially awkward woman named Emily, who is forced to work with her charming colleague, who she’s always secretly suspected to be a glamoured fae, Wendell. The little back and forths with them are hilarious and sometimes irritating in a fun way lol. Emily is on a mission to create the most complete fae encyclopedia in the world, and her colleague? His motives seem academic at first but become more unclear the more they work together. It’s a great adventure with lots of good fae lore embedded within. I appreciate that this is one of those books where not all the fae are pretty. They come in all shapes and sizes. Some fairly easy to approach and get along with, and others who just want your blood. While the romance is cute and cozy, this book does veer into the occasional dark twist. This book respects that even the faeries who appear similar to mortals, don’t think or act like them. So far I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fae romance/adventure based on real lore.
