In the stillness,

may you remember that He is God.

In the chaos

and amidst your uncertainty,

may you remember

that He is still God.

He lives and still breathes

life into you.

Not occasionally

but consistently,

regularly and intentionally.

He speaks,

quieting every other voice

hovering over you.

Yet still,

reminding your soul

with each new day that

He is with you.

He is for you.

the things i miss

the first is trust, 

some call it a must

but a burgeoning heart

tore that apart.

it’s not the first time,

heck, even mine

has destroyed my sense

for a hint of her scent.

i said control is the key

but you ignored me

so we’re stuck stepping around

the shards that we found.

next was our time

a cliché pantomime

of uneasy teens,

slim bodies lean.

when it’s that hard to sleep

was it that hard to keep

those thoughts in our heads?

... or wind up dead.

regardless, i see

that the times i was free

were tinged by your tint,

your fingerprint.

the third thing’s where

the cold frosty air

held the fragility 

of our hostility.

you changed my mind

and i let you find

the places in me

that i hadn’t seen.

for a while, comfort

but you had to flirt, 

with her, with life

running from strife.

... thread on a knife.

then i changed.

you remained,

‘we’ had come to its end.

goodbye to friends

welcome dead ends,

too slow to clean up your act, and 

now you’re pining

and i don’t mean to be rude, but

it’s time to focus on joy

you’re so wrapped up in your little cocoon

you’ve almost forgotten your place. 

(and i’ve forgotten to rhyme)

you’ve got to do better, for you and for ‘them’

help yourself out, and things will get easier.
