white&black - connection
...
“What the fuck?” asks Gram.
White, irritated, replies, “Just hold it.”
“No seriously, what the fuck?”
That’s another of the same question, and White’s bored of this – he trusts that Gram can avoid fucking it up for the necessary thirty seconds. It might be an unwise thing to trust, but Eugene dumped him pretty publicly and White is thus feeling magnanimous to the fucker that broke his older brother’s heart.
(Well, fucker number two – obviously he still hates Todd.)
So, he just presses his phone firmly into Gram’s hand, doesn’t glare at him at all, and shoves his own head into the flooded ditch against the wall of the building they’re cornered in.
Black’s still doing his whole “I work alone” shit – White knows that’s partly his fault, but he also knows how much it’s Gram’s fault – and he hasn’t got a new phone that White knows of, so this is the only way they have of contacting him.
Gram is at least smart enough not to yell as White, through years of cultivated willpower, does not resurface, even as the burn builds in his lungs and the panic mounts like he’s in real danger, and he’s sure he’s going limp – drowning. A few seconds more, and he’s pretty sure he feels an echo of his own panic; Black might have felt that.
He should stay down, but that’s when Gram pulls him out by the back of his collar.
In a whisper, he asks, “Why the fuck did you just do that?”
“I don’t have phi’s number.”
…
Black closes his eyes, breathes, and focuses – he has a direction, and he has an emotion.
Who’s annoyed White so much he tried to drown himself?
Whatever – he knows his duty. Black gets on his bike and starts to follow the connection.
how fast can you get undressed when your enemy comes calling?
day 1
prompt : white — breathe
White felt strangely calm for someone who was currently being strangled to probable death. He resisted a little, but it didn't have too much of a fight. White felt like he deserved it, that he was finally being handed a way out without having to seek it out himself.
His vision was darkening at the edges with every passing moment, Sean's hold never loosening. White wondered if this was even close to the pain Black must have felt, wondered if him being gone would bring his brother back from his coma.
Some mornings, when White looked at himself himself in the mirror he felt utterly hopeless. White was out here, while Black laid unconcious. The entire universe seemed to conspire against them so that Black and White could not ever exist in the same space and time. He hated that he had to pretend to be his brother instead of being able to be with Black.
White hated that he was failing at his job of finding out who hurt Black. He hated that his view of the world had shattered and he was left loathing himself. He hated that his parents never cared and were assholes, that his brother wasn't around. He hated that he was falling for Sean even when the other man wouldn't even look at him without resentment and anger. He hated that he was out here and nothing ever seemed to work out.
White had been struggling to breathe long before Sean had even started choke him.
