Some of the 24 Sioux chieftains, in full tribal regalia, who dropped into City Hall on November 18, 1932 to pay their respects to Mayor Joseph V. McKee. They had come east a month before from the Pine Ridge Indian Agency in South Dakota to visit Chief Two Moon Meredes at his home in Waterbury, Conn. Among them were six who took part in the battle at Little Bighorn, 57 years before, in which General Custer and a squadron of the 7th U.S. cavalry were wiped out.

Nov 18 - Much crocheting done today; finished the white-pink-blue scarf I was working on for the last couple of weeks. Really glad I decided to get a second ball of the yarn, the final scarf is long enough to loop loosely around my neck and still hang down to my thighs in front. It's a bit stiff but hopefully giving it a wash will loosen it up some (acrylic yarn, so no fear of felting). Have already made a start on another scarf using a rainbow-hued multicolour yarn and a fancier stitch. I'm still thinking of making a pile of them and then sending them off to family down south, though the current Canada Post strike makes that a wee bit more problematic if I want them to arrive in time for, say, Christmas.

On the other hand I don't know if I could actually finish enough scarves in time anyway; maybe I should regard this as a more long term project to work on over the coming year. That would give me time to make enough scarves for all the more immediate family, plus extras for the SIL to share around with her side.

Supper tonight was chili and brown rice, with a salad.
