Quite frankly considering making another separate blog just for my art rn. Not a secondary blog but like a full entire blog. Maybe it'd help if I interacted more with people. I'm not good at getting into fanbases, but I'm also not good at being part of creative communities if I'm not myself being creative enough

Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve. 

Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!

Ok i just realised why for some reason I had this sort of familiarity with the Kinks's Add It Up that made me listen to it so much more than the rest of its album

And of course it sounds like many punk songs but now that i think of it it really is written in the same font as the Stones Flip The Switch

I really listen to the same things on repeat do I. This is my idea of paradise

Alright so ik for some reason I'm so late to this but I just can't stop being in awe of Ray Davies' lyricism. I've just listened to Art Lover from Give The People What They Want, which I also can't believe is ONLY from 1981. And there are many songs from this time period that talk about this modern-day, socially accepted pedophilia, where the vision of a predator became limited in the media to the exagerated depiction of a "flasher in a rain coat" as Ray so truthfully wrote. The real predator is an everyday man, a cultured one who uses his intellectual capital to cover up his perverted views : he's not a pervert, he's "an art lover". And gosh how I always was so unconfortable seeing and hearing how badly little girls were represented in the 80s (through the culture my parents introduced me to. I am only 20), in films where adult women were dressed up as little girls to please the male gaze, and in songs on the radio where being a dependant & girly girl seemed to be a life goal for teenagers.

As I grew up mostly listening to Stones records & french 80s music, I know France had a whole bunch of predatorish songs about little girls, and many more songs mocking this intelligentsia-pedophilia that slowly became mainstream in the media (many horrible stories from 80s France I will not share on here but that are still sadly not documented well enough). Still I just love the cynisism of this Kinks song. "I'm an art lover - come to daddy". Damn Ray spittin up facts about this perverted society once more. It's criminal how underrated the Kinks are how did this happen
