events with her family were not part of her favorite past time, sure she was well practiced in it but she did not choose to begin splitting her time between worlds solely to please her fawley family. so, instead of arriving with her family as a whole like they intended, nisrine opted to arrive separately. even with all that considered, she would be lying if she’d voiced any distaste for this event — she hasn’t, of course and would save said words for the special couple to hear personally, if she had any. instead, she plans to observe and enjoy as much as she can — they do have a free bar, right?
just like that, the universe had answered her silent question, with a small turn of her chin — there it was. . the bar. her eyes lit up, her smile matching as brims etched upward at the sight. perfectly manicured digits drummed lightly against the bar top. ‘ espresso martini, please. ’
her attention draws to her side as she awaits the martini, eyes drawing towards the person standing beside her. “ are you here for the bride, the groom or both ? ”

IN CHARACTER :
the parkinson / flint wedding ( promised to be the event of the season by witch weekly way back at the very start of the year ) has been a long time coming, and no one wishes more than pansy & marcus that it had kept coming ! arranged by their parents some years ago as a way of both bolstering marcus in public opinion after a disastrous media run and ensuring that heath parkinson's daughter was no longer living on his dime, preparations for their special day have taken years. everything from the overall theme to the location to the people that are making up the wedding parties has changed a hundred times over in the time it's taken to get them to this day, but here we are, and here they are on december 25th, 2024.
held at a POPULAR wixen venue just outside of ilkley, cheshire, the couple have cleanly avoided any temptation they may have had to inject some christmas cheer into their special day by giving strict instruction to the organisers to keep the snow and the cold snap at bay. stepping into the lantern & candlelit woods is like stepping into another world; the temperature is kept toasty enough for guests to walk around barearmed thanks to several powerful charms operating around the area, and the woodlands themselves are untouched by the snow that settles on the outskirts of them. wander too far off the beaten track and you will, of course, wander out of the range of all the protective magic being employed - but with so much to enjoy right there, why would anyone want to wander ?
guests are welcome to grab an espresso martini - the first of several wedding favors that also include personalised matchbooks, a strip of photos from an old style booth and bubbles to blow as the happy couple walk back down the aisle, arm in arm - as soon as they arrive, and are invited to mill around the dinner and ballroom areas until it comes to time to take their seat by the aisle. the orchestral band hired for the start of the event will be playing covers of popular love songs - wix and muggle alike - for now, and leaving sometime after the ceremony concludes to make way for the dj, a popular witch you might recognise from her stints at amortentia. a four course meal will be served promptly at 6, with the five tier cake decorated with flowers and foliage not nearly as exciting for everyone involved as the champagne tower that'll be filled, sometime after. all in all, it's set to be a traditional wixen ceremony with a traditional sort of afters, though anyone who knows pansy and marcus knows that the likelihood of everything being exactly as it seems is slim !
OUT OF CHARACTER:
we delayed for some very good reasons, but it's finally time for the wedding of the season ! with lucius malfoy's death earlier this year ( in our season two finale ), i always figured we'd have to take our first ever break from the malfoy family ball, and the parkinson & flint wedding has been in the works for a good long while, so what a good replacement it makes ! once complete, we'll be transitioning into 2025, and i've got a couple things up my sleeve before our five year anniversary period ! <3
this event will begin tonight, the 10th of january and run for two weeks, bringing us up to the 24th ! it'll be run in two parts, with the transition to the afters happening after a week - you'll have to keep an eye out for that post ! in character, it's taking place on december 25th !
no character is actually required to attend the wedding, nor are you yourself required to take part, but everyone's encouraged to find a reason to be there ! whether they'd have actually gotten an invite of their own isn't really that important, since it can be assumed that a lot of invites went out at random and there's always the option of coming as a plus one !
like our bach parties, this event will run both on discord & dash, just to make it a bit easier for people to take part since we're currently in what i always consider a busy period ! any posts going onto the dash should be tagged with nox.event046, and the location for anyone who tags it is ilkley, cheshire.

AT 3PM, GUESTS ARE USHERED TOWARDS THE AREA set aside for the ceremony. rows upon rows of spindly wooden chairs draped in white silks are set up at the heart of the ilkley woods, framing an aisle laid in green which leads to the front. there isn't, of course, a traditional sort of 'altar'; wixen weddings differ in this aspect, but an arch has been decorated with the same silks and weighed down even more by a thick layer of flowers, and a row of candles are blazing without so much as a flicker behind where the bride and groom are set to say their vows.
a sign to the side says 'pick a seat, not a side', though of course the guests naturally flock towards familiar faces. peers with peers, siblings with siblings; there are giggles at jokes said under breath and a low hum from the many conversations happening all around, right up to the point that the music picks up and the wix who will be conducting the ceremony appears, though under a hundred watchful eyes they walk quickly past the place they're meant to stand and make a beeline, instead, for the parents sitting at the front. heath parkinson ducks his head close to hear whatever is being whispered; bora flint leans forward to listen in, too, her brow furrowing.
the music continues at a slow, relaxing tempo.
heath stands; he looks all around, and it's hard to miss the worry that clouds his expression and dampens the smile he has tried to keep cemented in place. he hurries away. vana, a beautiful blonde a few years his junior, scurries to follow him after only a moment of hesitation, while bora flint is left muttering with the official. the orchestra, who have clearly not been looped in on whatever is happening, loop the end of their bridal march once, twice, three times, more desperate by the minute to stretch it out just a little longer - and cover the growing murmurs of the crowd - when bora stands, brushing off her dress and clearing her throat before directing a hassled sort of smile out at the gathered guests.
"unfortunately, there's been a technical difficulty," she laughs, almost carefree, "we're so sorry. while we...- sort out the problem, we ask you all to make your way back to the ballroom area to enjoy another drink and the sparkling company of your fellow guests." she pauses to think, then adds, "everything will be continuing as planned shortly."
OUT OF CHARACTER :
we transition, finally, into the second phase of the wedding plot ! the location continues to be ilkley, cheshire, and though the guests of the parkinson & flint wedding have already had a few hours to socialise, there's surely to be a buzz about the delay !
