While cleaning my apartment I found an old sketch I don’t believed I ever posted.
It was for a story idea about a small town that was built near the entrance of a magical labyrinth. Adventures came from all over to explore the dungeon and the village flourished. All those adventurers needed food, armor and potions after all.
But eventually the treasure in the dungeon started to dry up and the deeper levels were too dangerous so the adventurers slowly stopped coming, leaving the town in economic ruin.
However, one brave adventurer never stopped exploring, determined to reach the final treasure chamber on the deepest level. They kept coming back up to sell the treasure and various monster parts they salvaged and soon the entire village relied on them for their income.
The Innkeeper loved cooking the adventurer meals and buying up the rare herbs that grew in the dungeon.
The Merchant loved trading potions of the dungeons magical relics.
The Blacksmith loved building new gear for the adventurer with all the strange ores they brought back.
But most of all the three of them just loved the mysterious adventurer in general.
Until one day they never came back from the dungeon. Trapped by a powerful monster on the lowest layer.
Now it is up to the Innkeeper, the Merchant and the Blacksmith to form a team and go rescue their towns hero and maybe confess their feelings.
long story short I just really liked the idea of the protagonist going missing and the village NPCs having to take up their role and save the day.
would you like to see more of them?
