I AM CALLING THE POLICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“ alright, alright. i’m sure we can both agree that knitting class is off the table this time. “ ivy peers out at the docking bay, trying her best to, as dr. chakwas put it ‘ decompress ‘. opportunities for shore leave were few and far between, usually only leaving enough time to resupply and maybe hit up a bar or two.
the last time they’d stopped for leave, she had taken a recommendation from the good doctor and eventually found herself tangled up in yarn for four hours with miranda along for the ride. as amusing as it was, the truth of the matter is that she feels a little bad for having wasted miranda’s entire day with all that nonsense. “ anything you’ve been dying to do? “

A STORM SWEEPS THROUGH THE AIRLOCK , all red hair and fury , brow furrowed , fists clenched , teeth barred ; and this was after pausing a moment to collect herself . She looks left , then right , checking both ways before turning towards the cockpit nearby and convenient , she knew he’d been listening anyhow .
❝ Can’t believe this . . . what am I saying ? Of course I can believe this , I’m not even surprised . . . ❞ words barely above a whisper through a tight - lipped sneer , the commander paces back and forth behind the pilot . Grounded ; the audacity of it all . If the council truly believed there was no threat then surely there was no reason to keep them under lock and key . What was the point of being a spectre the first human spectre if it awarded her no freedom ? Moving from gunnery station to station , she pauses a second here , than another there , caught firmly on the tracks of this derailing train and desperately trying to think of a way to stop it .
“ keelah! i cannot believe we survived that— i mean, for a minute in the vent there i did get a little worried but we did it! ” the suicide mission, the one that they survived. against all odds, they’d done it. the collector base was destroyed, the human reaper was dead. and they lived. a moment of impulse, standing in shepard’s room— (even if he can’t see her smile) & she leans on the wall, peering at the hunched over john. “ we should get a drink to celebrate. miranda gave me a bendy straw— i don’t think she meant it as a nice gift but honestly, it’s kinda cool. i owe you a drink anyways. for saving me— back on the rayya. thank you for that. there is no one i’d trust more then you. ”
“ i’m sorry, ” it’s the first time in a very long time those words have left her lips. i’m sorry. are you, siobhán? how much of this is born from defiance? from spite, from hatred. are you truly rooting for her? (i’m a woman. that’s a minus. of course that’s a fucking minus. —why are we listening to this woman anyways? said the council, the commander doesn’t know what she’s talking about.) you’re going to kill them all, aren’t you athena? you two will win. when the reapers come and you’re both right, then you can laugh. for now, swallow your fucking tongue. “—about tom. he doesn’t give a shit. the deranged commander shepard, what a fucking joke. ”
“ oh, no. nope. no way. who the hell invited you? i know for a fact that you’re not on the guest list. “ it’s a merc only event--- violet made sure of that. she drags her hand down her face and squints at the doorman. she realizes that it’s pretty damn hard to say no to the commander shepard, but this guy had one job. “ you must have a damn good reason for showing up here. we’ve already reached our limp dicked asshole quota for the night. “ // @nrmandy for john :)))
❛ What change would have altered the course of events? In the big picture, nothing. In the small picture, so much. ❜ (tali for naomi hehehehe)
Naomi hummed in agreement. Difficult to argue with that – but what a complex train of thought. It was one of the things she had learned to appreciate about Tali early on when they started working together: There was no way they would ever run out of conversations. Not with Tali keeping her on her toes like this; making her think, making her reflect. Sometimes, it seemed so much more tempting to just … bury her thoughts, her memories, let the past be the past. Then guilt would strangle her; cutting out the past meant cutting it out completely, in total – the good and the bad.
“Do you think the people in the big-picture moments of our time really see themselves as such?” Big-picture moments. It left a sour aftertaste in her mouth. She swallowed, turning away from Tali to enter something into her stationary terminal by the eezo core. The HUD blinked green once, then played back a string text at her. “Maybe they don’t realise that their actions will influence anything on a larger scale. Maybe that’s how tragedies happen. We do small-scale things without considering the consequences that might follow … all because we didn’t think our actions through in the beginning.” She sounded uncharacteristically bitter.
"i’m one of those people who doesn’t really know what he thinks until he writes it down." (kaidan for naomi)
She was waist-deep in a ventilation shaft, a wrench in one hand, an oily towel in the other, and her terminal clamped between her teeth. Alenko had the absurd talent of making smalltalk whenever it seemed the least convenient. Sort of endearing, almost. Naomi slapped the towel over her shoulder, took the hand terminal out of her mouth, looked up at Kaidan, a grin growing on her face.
"Is that so, LT? Okay, here's a thought for you: You could pass me that new thermal cylinder," she pointed her terminal at a transport cart stacked with new cylinders, which she was replacing with old or malfunctioning ones. "Let me know what you think. I'm expecting an answer through the intercom."
It was easy to banter back and forth with him like that; and whatever else it was, it took the edge off a bit. The overall atmosphere on board the Normandy was tense, these days, but how couldn't it? No human crew had ever hunted a turian spectre before – at least not with a human spectre at the helm.
So, all teasing aside, Naomi continued working in comfortable silence. Eventually, the question came naturally: "How're you holding up, with everything that's been going on?"
