Favorite part of Christmas? Getting together with family that I might not have seen in a year or more. What’s your favorite part? My favorite tradition is watching The Nativity Story with my family every Christmas Eve to really focus on the true meaning of Christmas. Do you have any fun Christmas traditions? -🎁
Hello again! Sorry for the delayed response! ❤️
Ooooh does “everything” count for my favorite part of Christmas? The importance, the cookies, the decorations, the music, the movies, the eggnog, the snow, trying to find the perfect gift for everyone. Everything.
(The true meaning of Christmas is getting a Buzzsaw Louie. (Have you watched VeggieTales? If not, then ignore this.)) Awesome! We sometimes go to a Christmas Eve service at church, but there were a few years we couldn’t.
As for traditions, I have a few favorites. Until my brother got married and moved out of the house, my parents always gave us Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve, and then we’d come downstairs in them in the morning to open presents after our grandparents got to our house. (He and his wife actually stayed overnight in the first year of their marriage, so we still all got pajamas, but now they have their own Christmas morning exchange at their house before they come here.) Then after everyone opens their presents from Santa and our parents, we have ham for lunch, and then we give presents to our parents and grandparents.
Another tradition I love is baking a crap-ton of cookies with my mom, and one of the cookie traditions is that we use the sugar cookie and icing recipe from the Holly Hobby cookbook she’s had since she was little. There’s also the tradition of watching all the Rankin and Bass specials, the animated Grinch, and A Charlie Brown Christmas at least once every year. Also, of course decorating the tree–we have an artificial tree, so every year I help my dad assemble it and help my mom decorate it.
(Also I kinda self-plagiarized those two paragraphs….)
One of my favorite things is setting up a little Precious Moments nativity set that I’ve been in charge of ever since I was old enough to handle the figurines, but my parents and I moved my grandparents in with us around Thanksgiving this year, so with the changes to the house we had to limit our decorations and they decided not to put that out this year. :’(
I still need to finish wrapping, and hopefully I’ll get to bake more this week. I made some chocolate chip and mint chocolate chip cookies yesterday, but some family visited so they’re already almost gone!
