Nth - Spiderlight

Did some sketches tonight trying to imagine nth from Adrien Tchaikovsky’s Spiderlight . (It’s a banger of a book that deserves more hype)

Creation notes

- from nth’s initial description, I believe he has two large main eyes, two little forehead eyes, and maybe some other little eyes thrown in

- his mouth should have two extra long needle fangs (with slots in lower jaw). — I wound up doing one (middle) version of him where he had human skin flap analogs for spider mouth parts, which turned out interesting, but isn’t technically cannon 🥲

- nth lying down in bed on the morning before fighting the demon lord: Cyrene describes his back as being leanly muscled, but all the muscles being in slightly the wrong place for a human anatomy. I wound up using a greyhound as reference, but it turned out a little janky.

Any tips for writing Arthur in fan fiction? I love your analyses and such which is why I’m wondering haha. And do you reckon that Arthur could fall in love again or do you think he would always consider Mary his one true love/soulmate?

Firstly, thank you, glad you like my stuff! Secondly, yes I do believe Arthur could fall in love again but it would take time.

Mary has for probably been hopping in and out of Arthur's life for the majority of the years after he met her, then they broke up and Arthur was kind of left with a big wound, but like all wounds, it would heal with time. If Mary had stayed out of his life, then yes I do think he would have had the chance to fall in love again, but it would also require the gang being a bit more stable. They are his top priority, which is also why he says he would run away with her after everything was done.

With time and stablity, I do believe Arthur could fall in love again.

Now how to write him, of course you can always write the fannon Arthur but since you are here I am thinking you want a more cannon Arthur. Remember he is a man of his time, especially when it seems like you might be writing some kind of shipping/x reader/x oc. If he is dating someone fem, he is going to apply gender roles because he is a huge believer of them. He will expecting that he is the provider and that his partner will take care of house, child, whatever (he would help if needed but they are the lovers main priority).

There is also the fact he is quite disrespectful many times, mostly in the form of weird one-liners but also he is cronically late, Sean even says "That man will be late to his own funeral."
