Successful nonviolent protest generally falls into two categories. Direct action (block highways, chain yourself to doors/equipment, etc.) or sustaining massive protests/rallies for a longgg time. Both of these are hard. And you need a lot of people to put in hard work for a long time to see any results. And you might not see any results anyway.
And now, you can be charged with TERRORISM if you block a pipeline. You can be shot and killed for peacefully protesting a cop city. You worked so hard, you did everything right, and now you're dead.
Killing someone with a gun is very easy in this country.
If nonviolent protest is continuously ignored, and in fact made dangerous, more and more people are going to choose violence. I'm not laying judgement one way or another. That's just the reality of the world we've made.
