Happy 134th birthday to the iconic Brooklyn Bridge!
In “Cable Crossing” (1996) at Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall/Chamber Street station (4,5,6), Mark Gibian took inspiration from the Brooklyn Bridge’s pioneering steel cables and suspended roadway. His artwork uses a web of cable panels that mimic the graceful forms of the bridge suspended from an overhead structure below a skylight. The artist “wanted to explore movement, using soft curves with hard materials." The lacy curves of the panels "echo the beauty of the bridge's cross-hatched cables and the feeling of flight as it springs across the East River."
A symbol of welcome and hospitality. The Anthora paper coffee cup was designed and used by many Greek owned coffee shop and diner in NYC. Look for this next time you watch a NYC based TV show. #nycicon #anthoracup #nyccoffeecup (at East Village/Lower East Side Historic District)
