A (late) valentine's day fic

Silena walked through the light pink threw herself onto the puffy, lacy sofa dramatically, sighing

"Alright, what's up with you" - Drew rolled her eyes

Silena only bothered herself to sigh again

"I am not gonna ask again, bae, you either tell me now or Im gonna ignore you"

"Okay, okay, okay..." - Silena sat up properly - "So you know how Valentine's day is coming up?"

"Obviously."

"And I dont have a date... but I might have a crush..."

"YOU HAVE A WHAT-" - Drew's screech was unexpected, and surprisingly high pitched

"A crush... and I was wondering if you could... uhm... help me?"

"OH MY GODS. I'VE WAITED ALL MY LIFE FOR THIS MOMENT! YES! I CAN HELP YOU, SIL!!"

"Alright, what is going on here?" - Valentina came in, eyeliner pen in hand - "look, peoples, I cannot teach Lacy how to do a proper wing if you yell like crazy women!!"

"Sorr-"

"Silena has a crush!!" - Drew interrupted her quickly

Before Silena could blink Valentina was already sat down next to her

"So... Miss 'I will never fall in love and comform to mom's realm' has fallen in love?" - Valentina teased - "such a shame..."

Silena groaned and covered her face with her hands - "Im your older sister! I should be the one teasing you for your crushes!!"

"Blah, blah, blah" - Drew pulled her sister's hands away from her face - "now, bae, who is it?"

"Girlies, what are you doing?" - Mitchell's voice cut in - "I thought y'all were gonna get ready for breakfast? Also, Val, sweetie, Lacy's wating for 'cha to teach her how to do her eyeliner"

"Yes, yes, Mitchell, doesnt matter, tell Lacy to come here, this is much more important." - Valentina assured and waved him over

"'Much more important', how? More important than showing the baby how to look effortlessly beautiful?"

"Yes, Mitch, much more important! Silena likes someone!" - Drew said it as if it was the craziest thing ever

"Silena likes everyone, Drew, what's important about it?" - Mitchell fixed his hair

"No, you nitwit! As if in she has a crush!" - Drew yelled, as if it was obvious, making big gestures with her hands, Silena felt ready to disappear into the floor right there in that exact second 

"Can we stop talking about my love life, PLEASE."

Her half-siblings paused for about 15 seconds before answering in unison

"No."

"Alright, who is it?" - Mitchell said, as if he didnt have time for nonsense

"Clarisse..."

"Clarence?" - Drew laughed - "that's a shit name"

"No! Not Clarence! Clarisse..."

"Clarisse? Clarisse as if in... Clarisse La Rue, the daughter of Ares..?" - the boy asked cautiously, as if scared of the answer

"How did that even happen?!" - Mitchell urged

Mitchell sighed and shushed her - "Alright, girlie, you're in love, we got it. No need for you to describe Clarisse La Rue to us. Trust me, we've seen her before."

"She aint even all that" - Drew started looking her manicure - "I dont get what you see in her."

Silena groaned and threw a decorative ruffly pillow to a wall

Valentina sighed and wrapped her arms around Silena's shoulder - "Hold your horses, peoples, no judging Lena for her... curious taste" 

"ITS NOT CURIOUS!!" - Silena yelled - "Drew is dating someone who looks almost identical to her!!"

"Do not compare your white girl with my Nyssa."

"Are you gonna help me or what?"

"Duh." - all three of her siblings answered at the same time

"VAL!!" - Lacy screeched, eyeliner pen in hand

"What's wrong?" - Valentina brushed Lacy's blonde hair back slightly while Lacy tried to flap her hand away

"You were gonna help me with my eyeliner!!" - she whined

"Im sorry, baby, I'll help you tomorrow, yes? This is much more important!"

"What's more important than spending time with your baby sister?"

"Donnot give me puppy eyes, you know they never work. We'll have to work on your charmspeak if you want to convince someone."

"Are you gonna tell me what's more important than me?"

"Oh, yeah, Silena's crush on Clarisse La Rue" - Valentina pinched Silena's cheek -"so, so, so sweet!"

Lacy shrieked in excitement and sat on Silena's lap

"Are you gonna ask her to be your wife?"

Silena didnt have time to answer before Lacy bombarded her with more questions

"Do you think she's pretty? Does she like cupcakes? Are you gonna... kiss..? Are you gonna tell Chiron? Are y-"

"Lacy, sweetie, I think Silena needs some time to answer, yeah? How about you ask her later?" - Mitchell smiled warmly and picked up Lacy off Silena's lap - "now, Lena, you say you wanted help?"

"Yeeeeees?"

"Alright then, bae, you got any ideas?" - Drew questioned, already preparing a few in her head

"Well, yeah" - they all nodded, waiting for her response - "my dad taught me how to bake and I thought maybe I could make her something..."

"Aw, that's so romantic!" - Mitchell cooed

"the best way to get to a girl's heart is through her stomach" - Valentina commented - "So I think I speak for the whole cabin when I say that we'll help you"

"As long as you bake us something just for us!!" - Lacy added

"Well, alright, we got ourselves a deal, I'll bake you some of that strawberry heart loaf cake you love so much." - before they could cheer Silena clarified - "after you help me bake for Clarisse"

"Clean your hands throughly, Lacy" - Drew said, guiding her little sister's hands while Silena gathered the ingredients

"Okay, we need some butter, sugar, an egg, a bit of vanilla extract, flour, baking powder, pink food coloring, salt and... strawberry jam!" - Silena explained, mostly to herself"

Can we staaaaaaaaart already?" - Lacy whined

Drew rolled her eyes - "we'll start when you wash your hands!"

"I already washed them!"

"No with soap, you did not." - Valentina laughed from across the room as she grabbed some bowls

"Snitches get stitches.." - Lacy mumbled

"Now, who taught you that?" - Mitchell questioned

"Nobody!!"

Drew handed Lacy a bar of soap and watched to check she really washed them this time

"Done! Happy?"

"Joyous" - Drew replied snarkily

Silena smiled at her half-sisters' playful banter - "Now that you're done we can start!"

"Finally!" - Valentina muttered and let some bowls, spatulas and whisks fall into the counter

"Keep it tidy and organized, Val, or it'll break" - Silena laughed

Lacy moved a stool in front of the counter to reach it

"Come on!! The earlier we finish the earlier Silena can get a date! And we can have heart loaf cake..."

"What the baby said" - Mitchell smirked already putting the parchment paper over the oven tray

Silena smiled at the familiarity of her siblings, she liked when they were together, even if it was at the camp's kitchen, it felt comforting in a way, to know that even if their mother wasnt there, she'd always have them

She started by adding the flour (which somehow made everyone get coated in it, face, clothes, hair...) and baking powder while Drew mixed with a whisk

As they both mixed the dry ingredients Mitchell, Valentina and Lacy prepared the wet mixture with some butter, food coloring, vanilla extract and an egg

Once both were done they convined them, taking turns with the whisk; Lacy always mixed a bit too agresively which made small drops of dough stain the counter (and her shirt)

Once the mixture was relatively alright they popped it in the fridge for some time.

That time they spent cleaning up the kitchen to avoid a punishment from Chiron, Silena loved the pegasus, but she could NOT spend another day shoveling up their-

"Its done!" - Silena said, opening the fridge, smile wide - "now we just need to cut them with the heart shape cutters and let them bake for 15 minutes"

"And then we can put the jam?!" - Lacy asked, eyes glinting with excitement

Drew smiled and picked her up, whispeing in her ear - "yeah, Lacy, and if there's any leftovers we can all eat 'em... while Silena gives the cookies to her girlfrieeeeeend.."

Silena started pulling the heart cookie cutters out of a plastic bag - "I heard that!"

"We know, we donnot care!" - Valentina smirked, sweeping one of the cutter off the counter to start giving the cookies its shape

Mitchell took one too - "We dont care indeed"

"Oh, wow, Im so happy to know that my cabin respects my authority as counselor." - Silena muttered sarcastically

Lacy squirmed out of Drew's arms and started cutting the pink dough tooDrew started making little balls out of the dough

"We'd respect your authority. If you had any." 

That left Silena baffled

"OH, WOW, I very much do have authority, excuse you!"

"Keep telling yourself that" Valentina chuckled

Mitchell held back his laughter and added - "I'll believe it when I see it"

Silena continued with the cookies, ignoring her half-siblings teasing for the while; the cookies were simple, a heart shape cookie, strawberry jam in the middle and another heart shaped cookie with a heart shaped hole in the middle, simple but romantic, perfect to ask someone to be your Valentine!

Silena was sure Clarisse would love them, even if Ares kids didnt like Valentine's day... or so she hoped...She was really hoping Clarisse would like them

"Its done!!" - Lacy smiled while looking at her, her words and smile with a few missing teeth seemed to pull Silena out of her trance

"Oh... its all done?" 

Lacy nodded at her question 

"no dough left?"

Lacy shook her head

"Okay, I'll call you all over once its baked, you can go to your assigned activities until th-"

"Cant we just chill in the cabin?" - Mitchell groaned and let himself fall against the counter dramatically, his hand resting on his forehead

"Alright, okay, I dont mind, as long as you dont tell Chiron I let you bail on your tasks..."

"DEAL!" - they all screamed in unison 

'they share the same braincell...' Silena thought fondly 'but atleast they wont snitch'

"We got a deal then" - Silena grabbed her kitchen gloves, opened the oven and slid the raw cookies inside, setting up a fifteen minute timer - "fifteen minutes of free time. Now do you respect and believe in my authority"

"Meh"

"Yes!!"

"Kinda"

"Sure"

"Okay, whoever said 'meh' fuck you." - Silena deadpanned

All of them burst out laughing

"Be grateful Im letting you skip."

"We are very grateful, Sil" - Valentina smiled and pulled her dark hair back into a ponytail with a pink scrunchie

Drew nodded along - "Super grateful"

Fifteen minutes later, the cookies were finished baking, the color has turned a darker pink, still they looked great

Lacy's eyes lighted up when she saw how they turned out, she loved decorating stuff, especially baked goods, she liked making things pretty, so seeing it was already pretty she got really excited, she'd be able to make it prettier!!

Mitchell and Valentina opened the fridge and started rummaging it to find the strawberry jam, it was behind a milk carton; meanwhile, Drew looked for a knife to spread it through one of the marble cabinets

"FOUND IT!" - all three Aphrodite kids said in unison, making Lacy giggle

"You guys are connected" - Silena looked at them over her shoulder as she detached the cookies from the parchment paper - "cabin 10 has a common brain we all share"

Drew walked up to Mitchell, who was the one holding the jam, opened the jar and stabbed the strawberry mush

Mitchell almost dropped the jar - "you really taking out your anger on it, arent 'cha, Drewsie?"

"Oh, save it, Mitch"

"If we break it Chiron's not gonna let us do anything in the kitchen..." - Valentina warned

Silena put all the cookies onto a plate - "Lets just finish these so I can–"

"Ask Clarisse to be your wife!" - Lacy screeched 

"No! Lacy–!"

"She isnt even that wrong" - Drew agreed and started spreading the jam filling onto the cookies

Soon enough, they were all doing the same thing, there werent a lot of cookies, so it was fast to finish, honestly, they turnd out better than Silena expected

"Okay, since you helped you can have one cookie each"

"No, since we helped you will make us heart loaf cake" - Lacy smirked - "you promised"

"But until then, we'll accept the cookies" - Mitchell clarified

"Mi amor, what are you doing?" - Nyssa Barrera's voice came from the kitchen's door

"Nyssa?" - Drew asked - "who told you I was here?"

"Chiron, duh"

"We're baking cookies for Silena's little crush" - Mitchell said

Nyssa laughed, pulled Drew closer and started kissing her - "Silena! Finally letting love take over?"

"Nyssa!" - Drew laughed, trying to pull away from her girlfriend 

"Ay, Im sorry, lo siento, I just love you" - she kissed her again - "so much"

"You're so stupid"

"Mhm, maybe I am"

"Get a room!" - Valentina groaned 

"Okay, Silena... you can do this.." - she whispered to herself as she walked to cabin 5 - "you can-"

"Lena!" - Clarisse's voice called out from in front of her

"Clarisse!! I- uhm... well... baked... uh... love... Aphrodite..."

"What?"

"I baked you some cookies because today is the day of love and well, my mom is Aphrodite and all that..." - Silena muttered, handing her the cookies, but before Clarisse could think it was all "friends stuff" - "and I was thinking maybe we could... go on a... you know, a date?"

She'd never seen someone's eyes go so wide in the span of ten seconds

"I mean... sure! As long as..." - Clarisse pointed at a bush behind Silena - "your siblings arent spying on us during the date too"

Silena turned around and saw her siblings scrambling to get out of a bush

"Dont worry." - she said, half sighing - "they wont be there
