The Oxpecker.
Some quick expression sketches of my characters. Mostly kept it quick and dirty and focused on trying to get their emotions and character across. Here's a bit of what I was going for with each character:
Evelyn is an evil two-faced schemer. I think it miiight look too sincere, but her smile is supposed to be over-acted, what with the peppy bounce in her shoulders and hair. Hopefully juxtaposing it next to her clenched-toothed glare helps.
Alexandria is a military leader who actively tries not to show much emotion. The scowl up top is kind of her face 90% of the time. Even when she's legitimately happy, she's reserved about showing it.
Ameli likes fun. Ameli dislikes unfun. She will make it very obvious what is fun and not fun.
Another 2020 redraw of another old character, this time an evil body-horror shapeshifter lady named Evelyn. I’ve shared drawings of her around this blog for a while now.
Her shapeshifter concept was always the same, but her design started off veeery different back in 2011. Then I overhauled her with the idea of her using a favorite victim's body and name as her main disguise, which is why she has no last name.
O-3 was her lab designation during her years in containment after her capture. Once a human, she wielded rare shapeshifting magic, but she spent so much time assuming the identities of other people and creatures that she had forgotten her own identity. Eventually she was captured by a military company named Severa, where she got the designation of O-3 and was placed in a lab for study. In that lab, the scientist in charge of O-3 was a young woman named Dr. Evelyn Duvalle.
Even with a rough start, over the years the doctor thought the two of them were actually bonding pretty well, with O-3 opening up to her and sharing more material to study. But when an attack on the research facility damaged O-3′s containment measures, the subject still proceeded to attack and kill the doctor, and then the rest of the laboratory staff. To this day, O-3 still assumes Dr. Evelyn’s name, body, and face, though nobody knows if she does so out of some strange sentiment or spite.
Another pair of ladies with some expression sketches (along with the last three just to keep them all together). Just like with the last three, I’m hoping the ways Brynn and Elena make their expressions can help show their individual personalities.
Inktober day 25. I suppose I should get at least one actually spooky drawing in before October ends. This ugly mass of body horror is a creature that belongs to a woman named Evelyn, who has a few drawings scattered around this blog. She normally looks like a pretty redheaded girl in a red halter dress, but she’s also a horrific mutatey shape-shifter with all sorts of flesh-manipulating powers. Evelyn tends to graft a ton of flesh everywhere as a way of marking her territory, and may sometimes mash a ton of bodies and other bits to create one of these horrendous monster sentinels. It can rip itself from the ceiling, upon which its lower body would probably be very octopus-like.
It doesn’t officially have a name, but I do call it an amalgamate since it’s kind of assembled from a bunch of ladies. Which, by the way, is because Evelyn herself is a woman, and she uses copies of her own body (or the bodies of other women she absorbed/imitates) to contribute to one of these monsters.
