On The Second Day of Fun I present... another pocchiri! Yes, we're back with more jewelry today, so let's check out some shinies!

Simple yet elegant, this pocchiri depicts a shore scene, likely on the Kamo River, that once must have been a common sight. A flock of five plovers flies over waves, some fishing baskets, and a rock.
The plovers are carved from carnelian, a red/orange type of quartz commonly found in Asia. The fishing baskets are carefully rendered in gold and the rock is a large chunk of green jade. All of these sit upon a silver base made to look like waves.
Plovers are typically found in Pontocho that backs onto the Kamo River, but as Miyagawa Cho isn't too far away and birds are often stand ins for geisha in songs, this pocchiri finds a great home at Kawayoshi!
