The thing is, I love so many aspects of Roy Kent's character. But I find it MUCH more fascinating to write things that criticize him.

He improves in many ways over time, as people do but there are so many moments of the show I want to analyze and rewrite so that I can kinda rip into him and explore those flaws and the shitty things he does from other people's perspectives.

Currently writing something about the first season from Sam's perspective, which partially involves Roy and fdsknldasnlwa I know they say write the fics you wanna see but whyyyy can't others also write them too 😭

Why must I touch the keys and rearrange the foggy ideas in my brain so that I can read it?? Why must none of the fandom writers write fics ripping Roy to shreds and/or genuinely criticizing him? I know the answer but like. C'mmmmon

One of the many things that really frustrates me about Ted Lasso is the casual sexual violence/harassment shit and how its (not) dealt with in the show.

I think one of the worst examples is, somehow the gala in the first season where Roy/Keeley make a "joke" towards Jamie that constitutes sexual harassment and there's just no apology, no follow up, nothing.

Obviously, the concept of the gala in the first place is shit but there's something so uniquely shitty about that part (probably because his girlfriend joins in and its just sad), I keep coming back to it.

But you also have Jamie mentioning his experience with rape/incest in Amsterdam to Roy, who later forces all the lads into a "training session" that is just straight up sexual assault played off as "humor".

Like genuinely, I hate it so much. Much like some of the racism, misogyny and even abuse apologia, it doesn't add anything to the show to have characters making rape jokes with no consequences or sexually assaulting people with NO consequences (the nate/keeley kiss still pisses me off too!), it's just frustrating and gross.

I'd really love to write a fic exploring how Roy's violence has occasionally become sexual in nature, especially in regards to Jamie. The sexual harassment in the first season, the sexual assault in (I think) the third?

It'd be so interesting to explore that part of his character and how it affects others. I rarely see fics touching on it, much less actually exploring it-Which is understandable, since he's such a popular character but I honestly think its makes it that much more important/interesting to explore.

Genuinely what in the fuck is up with the huge rise in transphobia/intersexism in 911 fics? I don't know who, like, started it but its greatly increased recently and its very uncomfortable.

I think Buck having that "I'm bisexual" moment click into place talking with drag queens and then Eddie realizing he might not be straight when a drag queen says she thinks he's into Buck would be so funny. Not likely, but very funny, very cute.

Part of a 9-1-1 WIP I'm working on:

Hen's expression crumpled. "Buckaroo." She said, and it was gentle and devastated in a way Buck hadn't been expecting. "Its not your job to say "no", especially not to your therapist. It was her job not to assault you."

Buck blinked rapidly, static filling his ears. Assault him? He wanted to laugh but he had a feeling it would come out hysterically and that he also might not be able to stop until he cried so he kept his mouth shut, staring back at Hen, wide eyed.

He knew, of course, that it was illegal for Welles to have sex with him. He'd done a research binge a while back when he'd started considering therapy again and he'd come across the information and filed it away without much thought on it.

Lots of things were illegal and Buck didn't particularly consider them bad. Like shoplifting on Friday or the occasional substance abuse.

To hear it called "assault" and have Hen claim it wasn't even his fault was...something else. He'd never even considered the idea it might not be his fault and while part of him screamed Hen must be wrong, he also trusted her with his life and knew she was far more knowledgable than him about relationship or people things almost always. So either Hen was miraculously wrong or perhaps his aversion to therapy made a nauseating amount of sense.

Tbh I think it's very strange they skipped over all of Buck's initial recovery from the whole, y'know, being crushed under a firetruck thing. It would've been great for his storyline, as well as for the others (like think about Eddie getting to help Buck out, helping him distract from his grief or Bobby getting to discuss his guilt over it or hey, Maddie's terror at witnessing such a traumatic event on TV) but no?

For some reason we start after all of that, which seems kind of like a cheat somehow.
