The thing is, I love so many aspects of Roy Kent's character. But I find it MUCH more fascinating to write things that criticize him.

He improves in many ways over time, as people do but there are so many moments of the show I want to analyze and rewrite so that I can kinda rip into him and explore those flaws and the shitty things he does from other people's perspectives.

Currently writing something about the first season from Sam's perspective, which partially involves Roy and fdsknldasnlwa I know they say write the fics you wanna see but whyyyy can't others also write them too 😭

Why must I touch the keys and rearrange the foggy ideas in my brain so that I can read it?? Why must none of the fandom writers write fics ripping Roy to shreds and/or genuinely criticizing him? I know the answer but like. C'mmmmon

the Knives Out filmmaking is fucking genius because it doesn't hide ANY of the murder mystery details that get revealed later on. The blood stain is ALWAYS on Marta's shoes. You can see Miles hand Duke his glass, take his gun and hide it. You see Blanc hand Helen the Klear. You hear the 'clangy clunk' of Jud hiding the flask in the first scene of Wicks's murder. You notice it all after it's revealed. It's not added in in the reveal scene. All of the clues are always there, you just DON'T SEE THEM. It just makes it feel so much more real.

despite the fact that jud's form and view of christianity is a very pleasant one, i appreciate that no part of benoit blanc is converted. it's not like i expected benoit to become a christian obviously, but i expected him to potentially stay for a service at the end, when invited. or to show appreciation for what jud is building at his church. even just appreciation that he's welcome.

after the whole movie, when benoit is given the invite, he still says there's nothing he wants less than to stay in that church. it's very, very reasonable and realistic of a traumatized atheist, but i almost never see it depicted in this way. usually they come around to "see the beauty" in one way or another. i just really appreciate that they didn't do that.

I don’t think it’s something I could write right now, but I’ve read a few fics about Jamie having a panic attack/ptsd flashback during the gala (this series where Sam finds him is a particularly amazing story) and I keep thinking about how interesting it would have been if he’d run outside and Rebecca had found him. In many ways she’d made up her mind about him at that point - like keeley says, she’s judgey, and he had invited another date (even tho I’m still of the opinion that was in part at least a protective measure, however badly managed) but then she’s also exceptionally kind at times, like when she found Ted in his panic attack. So I think Rebecca would try to comfort him, I don’t think that would go that well at first, given Jamie’s trauma, and how she was herself dealing with a surprise visit from her abuser. But she’d keep trying, get him back to the present. Maybe Ted would find them both out there. Maybe knowing or even suspecting what Jamie’s been through would make Rebecca think twice before sending Jamie away.

I also think about if Colin came across Jamie in his panic. He’s not shown as the most outwardly empathetic character, not like Sam, but Ive seen theories about Colin’s mantra hinting at some kind of abuse, and we know he was isolated and lonely in the closet, so I think he’d really try. He might be awkward about it or say the wrong thing at times, but I really see Colin as someone who would try to be there, to listen, be a good friend. And he’d sure as fuck keep Jamie’s secrets for him.
