For @ao3commentoftheday 's Six Sentence Sunday event, I thought I’d share a little snippet from a short story I’m working on. The working title is “Bones & Daisy”

If Bones still had eyes, he would be rolling them at the behaviour displayed by Daisy. As it was, all he could do was shake his head and click his tongue against the roof of his teeth until the girl was finished with her shit fit.

“Are you done now, lass?” Bones asked. “You’ve been having a tantrum for twelve minutes.”

Daisy sniffed and rubbed her left eye with one dirty knuckle.

“Have not.”

“What’s that?” Bones leaned in closer.

“I said, I have not been having a tantrum. I’m upset.” Daisy crossed her thin arms across her chest. “I’m expressing my feelings.”

“Must you express them so loudly?”

Daisy gestured around the room with one sweeping movement.

“It isn’t as though anyone can hear us.”
