“Someone’s been thinking some deep thoughts,” Markus replied. His voice was playful, but there was an underlying tone of worry in it. “Why do you say that?”

Markus didn’t know if he believed in a god or not. He was mostly agnostic, not knowing for sure one way or another and just leaving it at that until some proof came along and made the truth known. But he’d never asked Conrad about his beliefs. Maybe he was religious. Or maybe this was all hypothetical.

Don’t mind me and my new obsession with Conrad.

And he does it, because of Reggie.

Reggie used to play around with skirts and makeup as kid but one day after Conrad left, his mom found him. He got yelled at by both his parents for hours. That day ended with Reggie tossing every skirt he had into the trash bin outside. He stopped wearing them, too scared to put them back on.

So when Reggie and Conrad are getting along again, hanging out at a thrift store, they’re looking for some new jeans when Reggie pauses.

“Hey Reg what about these?” Conrad comes up with a pair of black ripped jeans but Reggie isn’t paying attention.

“Reg.” He shoves his cousin, finally gaining his attention. When Reggie turns Conrad catches a glimpse of what Reggie was looking at.

“That’s nice. Would go with your leather jacket.” Conrad notes at the deep red skirt still threaded through Reggie’s curious fingers.

“What?! No! I was just... it’s not for me! Julie. It’s, yeah...” Reggie fumbles, dropping the skirt from his hands. But Conrad picks up on the avoidance immediately.

“Please that wouldn’t fit Julie. What’s up?” Conrad raised a playful eyebrow. “You used to love wearing skirts as a kid. Remember that black dress I found for you? You were all over it.” Conrad chuckled.

But Reggie froze. “I-I don’t know what you’re...I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Reggie cleared his throat, “Those are nice jeans, should I try them on?”

“No. You just changed topic. What’s wrong?” Conrad immediately sobered, no longer teasing.

He was met with silence from Reggie until, “Mom and Dad made me stop.” He finally whispered. “Said it was wrong. Not natural. I threw all of them away.”

Conrad immediately felt himself boiling with rage. “Fuck them.” He growled. “You want to wear skirts or dresses then you wear them. Do you want this?” Conrad pointed at the skirt. “Be honest.”

“I can’t.” Reggie responded quietly.

Conrad scanned Reggie’s face. He knew that face, and he knew if he pushed to hard it wouldn’t end well.

“Fine. Go try these on.” Conrad handed the pants to Reggie.

Reggie nodded and left, Conrad immediately made a beeline for the counter when Reggie was out of sight. He had two skirts in hand. The red one Reggie was looking at, and a black one of similar make.

He was back by the dressing rooms in time to see Reggie’s new jeans.

“Those are good, go ahead and buy em.” Conrad hid the bag from Reggie.

Two days later Conrad came to school wearing his new black skirt. And Reggie was the first to see him.

“Con? When did you—”

“You said you can’t. But I sure can.” Conrad smirked. “I’ll be honest it is comfortable.”

Reggie let out a watery chuckle.

“You may not be ready yet, that’s okay. But I’ll be here when you are.” Conrad pulled out the red skirt and handed it to Reggie.

“Thanks Con.” Reggie smiled softly.

The fact that he did it to spite Reggie's parents makes it all the more Conrad of him. He's very much a fuck authority kind of a guy.

Also Conrad playing princess dressup with Nick's little sister when he goes over for date night? Conrad going full out and buying a princess dress from the mall to wear and make Bat happy and giggle and stuff? Yes please. Also nick probably finds Conrad in a skirt hot so there's that.

@soemthingsparkly this was gonna go in your asks but ApPArenTLy I have too many thoughts for the ask's character limit so here we are

Thought about Conrad again and I don't know what the hcs are on his home life/childhood, but what if he grew up in a stable home? When I say stable though, i mean like parents love their kid but he's dead set on doing what he wants -- except what Conrad wants isn't some driven passion (like Luke) it's just to be a "rebel" i.e. that kid who thinks he's a revolution but he's just disruptive in class for no reason, is lowkey kinda rude and probably got another (innocent) kid in detention somehow.

Or maybe Conrad's parents doted on him when he was little and they gave him every little thing he wanted. He would begin to throw a tantrum and they would pacify him with whatever he wanted. That's a surefire way to get a kid to develop an entitlement complex, right?

Basically, what I'm saying is, Conrad is that kid who grew up supported and given what he wanted, but he managed to turn out an asshole. And he can't quite grasp why his cousin is so drawn to those ragtag freaks instead of Conrad's crowd because well .... Conrad never knew what it was like to not be understood, accepted or even seen by his own parents. Maybe that's why Conrad is so resistant to change for the better. He doesn't see the point in anything Reggie does because his experiences are absolutely NOTHING like Reggies??
