okay!! (really) long post incoming... I'll work on writing longer bios for each character later; for now, here's quick introductions! (edit: these are slightly longer than i thought they would be. enjoy!)

the "main" characters

Jovis

Jovis grew up on Dromund Kaas, the youngest child of extremely minor Imperial nobility with a history of distinguished military service. When her Force sensitivity was discovered at a young age, their plans for her changed: she would train to become Sith, rise through their ranks, and catapult her family into the upper echelons of Imperial society. She was kept isolated throughout her childhood, excepting the rotating cast of tutors and combat trainers her parents acquired for her. She's, unfortunately, far too used to her own desires being inconsequential in the faces of those of her masters - as Darth Baras’ apprentice, Jo was considered by many to be no better than a leashed attack dog. His betrayal was unsurprising, but no less angering to her than if it were - but it also granted her, finally, the opportunity to make a name for herself, and to follow her own path in the world.

Saakash Vakyr

Saakash grew up in the Jedi Order; her Force sensitivity displayed itself at a very young age, and she was given over to the Jedi shortly thereafter. A precocious child, she excelled in her lessons and often could be found in the company of ancient Jedi holocrons. She's a powerful telekinetic, with an incredibly strong connection to the Force. Saakash is perhaps the quintessential example of what a Jedi should be: diplomatic, dedicated, selfless - perhaps too much so. She's used to casting away her needs and desires in favor of others, to the point of stretching herself far too thin - but she can't neglect her duties to the Order and the galaxy. Her romantic relationship with Lana is one of the few points of calm among the increasing turmoil, and the Sith is one of the few people that she does not need to act the perfect Jedi Master and Alliance Commander for.

Araani Kallia

Araani was inducted into the Jedi Order later than most of her peers - at around ten years old, shortly after her home planet was taken over by the Empire. Unfortunately, shortly after, she was critically injured during the attack on the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Her recovery and physical therapy was when she first began to train in combat - despite her frustrations amid relearning how her body worked, it became her outlet and the only place for her to feel ‘normal’ again. She’s not a powerful Force-sensitive, but her skill in combat is now almost unrivaled. She took it upon herself to attempt to learn all of the traditional combat forms and weaponry of the Jedi, though personally prefers dual-wielding sabers. Despite her (by now, many) accomplishments, she still feels a lot of anxiety over her place in the Order and fears not being able to live up to the Code.

Kaivat'an

Kaiva grew up a slave, a personal servant to minor Imperial nobility. Though perhaps a cushier life than a slave forced to perform manual labor, the stressors on her still grated - especially the strain of subconsciously forcibly suppressing her connection to the Force. This backfired, rather violently; no one has been able to ascertain what exactly happened that day, but Kaiva was found, the center of her own personal blast radius, in the shattered, scorched ruins of the estate. Rather than executed, she was taken to Korriban, where Lord Zash found her strength in the Force, as well as her inventive, slightly crazed, solutions to problems, quite fascinating and chose to take her on as an apprentice. She has an incredible amount of raw potential with the Force, but her training was quite notably missing pieces - Zash cultivated her strength, but never taught her real control. Most view her as more than a little unhinged, an insane child not tethered to reality. Kaiva desperately needs to gain, and remain in, control - she’s learned that true freedom can only be gained from power, but her quest for that power may erode what’s left of her sanity even further…

Tarst Korrado

A former Republic soldier, Tarst was medically discharged from service after being in the blast radius of a thermal detonator. Deciding not to reenlist upon recovery, she started taking up odd jobs on her home planet of Coruscant to support herself – including bodyguard and security detail, acting as hired muscle, as well as taking up bounty hunting. The latter she found herself to be especially skilled at, and she began to start making a name for herself in the field. She can be brash, rough-spoken, and prone to impulsivity, but is kindhearted with a notable soft spot for kids. Despite no longer being a soldier, she feels most at home when she has a cause to fight for.

Ran'ki "Ash" Lok

Ash grew up in Clan Lok, where she was raised communally among the other kids of her generation. She’s quick with her tongue, and even quicker with a blaster - and various other weaponry. She likes to keep plenty of tricks up her sleeve at any given time. She doesn't care too much about the conflict in the galaxy, and with the peace treaty still technically in effect, doesn't see the Empire or Republic as either of her problems; she's happy to work for whoever hires her, so long as they're not a complete scumbag. She has a tendency to hop from place to place, finding it hard to settle down; she prefers the adrenaline rush of new and exciting scenarios. She's definitely impulsive, and also has a tendency to incite to violence quite easily.

Ilaari Kairan

Ilaari grew up in some backwater (according to her) system that was conquered by the Empire during the war. Though many on her planet were angered by the occupation, Ilaari took the opportunity to join the Imperial military - believing them to be the likely winners of the galactic conflict, and not having any desire to be on the losing side. She was quickly scouted by Imperial Intelligence and trained to become a Cipher agent, despite her species presenting barriers. She's highly independent and deeply individualistic, but at the same time knows how to present herself as exactly what the Empire wants her to be - her primary defense mechanism is hypercompetence. She and Kaliyo are, deep down, too similar for their own good, causing them to clash in the worst ways, every so often igniting into ill-advised nights together.

Kiel Navarin

Born as a slave on Dromund Kaas, Kiel and her young cousin Nima were the only members of their family to escape during a slave rebellion. Finding their way to Coruscant as refugees, the two managed to survive for a time until Nima's Force sensitivity became apparent, and Kiel gave her up to the Jedi in hopes they'd be better able to provide for her. With no remaining ties, Kiel joined the Republic military for the promise of steady pay and taking the fight back to the Imps. She's young and idealistic, believing the Republic should be better than its enemies - but at the same time, longs to make the Empire pay for what it did to her and her family.

(okay... I was going to write info about my characters who I don't consider to be of the eight canon stories, but now i'm at the bottom here i'm realizing that should probably be its own post! hopefully that will come out... soon-ish...)

GRAAAAAGH LETS GOOOOOO!!! My husband @subsequentibis drew two of my new characters i've been concepting for me!! That's Jo on the left and Ophelia on the right, i got my husband to help type up a base overview of their situation for me cuz my hand hurts so i'll pop that below the cut <3

A pair of trans lesbians meet on a train and attempt to solve a murder together! j

Jo (every time she is asked what her name is short for she gives a different answer) has been granted paranormal powers by a deity but didn't really parse the prophetic dream that came with the powers so she's not really sure who it was or why she has them. they give her a sort of orange miasma like mist/smoke around her forearms and hands and the ability to summon ghost hands like some kinda jojo stand. she's a high energy intense lady who has a bit of the manic pepe silvia wildcard energy in her; tries to play suave and smooth for ladies but is a bit of a dork really. her vices include insensibility around drinking, sex, and a complete aversion to commitment or consequences. and always seeming to end up with crushes on the worst choices possible aka women who want her dead, women who could kill her, women who do not like her ass, etc etc. she's decided she's the dang best paranormal freelance investigator slash detective slash warrior in town and teams up with Ophelia, who reluctantly allows her to help out. Ophelia is a highly skilled and educated mage with a focus in necromancy which allows her to speak to those past the veil of death. she has been solving paranormal mysteries on her own for years and doesnt know why this younger weird upstart is so adamant on being involved. she is fussy and blunt and particular and picky about physical touch. she is also harbouring a deep aching loneliness in her soul and the only person who's had the sheer dumb headedness to keep smashing against her brick walls is this loser failgirl making obscene gestures with her paranormal ghost hands so like. they involved. they r both got smth goin on. its a lil complicated.
