❝ Dear reader, 

The surname, Adair, may sound vaguely familiar to you. For those of you who may need a refresher, the last we heard of the Adair family, they were relocating to the countryside following a string of scandals. Adultery was their most notorious scandal, but it was bankruptcy that sent them packing. Now, after nearly a decade, Verity, the only Adair daughter, has arrived just in time for this season. However, it seems that much has changed for Verity since the last time any of us heard a word from her. The young lady has not only amassed a fortune triple the amount of what her family had ever seen before, but she also managed to gain the favor of the Queen herself. One can only wonder what Miss Adair has been up to all these years. But the real question is, what is Verity after? Attention? Glory? A certain prince? You can leave it to me to uncover the truth. ❞
