Hey I have a question, what do you mean by OCDgenic?
Is it plurality as a side affect of ocd or "trauma" from the intrusive thoughts?/gen
If it is, why would most people with OCD be systems? Is it about how you deal with the disorder and your personal cope-ability?
Hey, we believe someone could identify as OCDgenic for a wide variety of reasons, including but not limited to:
- Their system forming as a means to cope with their OCD
- Their system forming due to facing trauma relating to their OCD
- Consciously creating a system as a way to help manage OCD symptoms
- Or anything else. If someone uses the OCDgenic label, it’s our job to believe and support them, not interrogate them about why they identify the way they do.
We don’t believe most people with OCD are systems? And we didn’t claim that anywhere… but some people with OCD are indeed systems and they deserve to be supported and uplifted in our community. Not all systems with OCD are OCDgenic, and not all people with OCD are systems. How folks deal and cope with their disorder definitely could play a role, but it is up to each individual to learn for themselves what caused their system to form and how to label themselves accordingly.
If any system with OCD sees this and would like to share their thoughts, please do so by all means. Anon, we hope this helps answer your questions.
