The Flying Dutchman is a legendary ghost ship, condemned to sail the waves forever. The sight of The Flying Dutchman was said to spell bad fortune on any unlucky enough to spot the ship.

When the crew of the Dutchman encounter other ships they are said to try and flag them down, begging them to take news and letters to family members, long dead, that they left at shore.

For centuries, tales of a ginormous cephalopod lurking in the ocean and rising from the deep to crush ships with its gargantuan tentacles have been used to scare sailors and explain missing ships. Crypto-zoologists will tell you that the oceans are deep, and unexplored, and that there could still be any number of ‘mythical’ creatures waiting to be discovered – even the dreaded Kraken.
