DREDGEtober #18 - "Archipelago"
A good excuse to try out some map drawing. The Marrows
A draft of the currents in the ocean/sea. Not sure, but that seems logical for now. I need to make it into a smaller one, but the A4 format seemed more clearer to work on that draft.

In deep, and sunlight ocean water waits a towering forest of kelp. Sharks weave through swaying weeds, and thick fronds hide shy undersea creatures and monstrous beasts. Rippling shadows make it difficult to see, and the long strands can easily tangle unwary swimmers. If you dive deep enough you may also find a dark trench (that will absolutely not hide anything which could swim up and eat you in one bite) ;)
If you like this map and would like to see more variations you can check out my Patreon! Patrons get access to higher resolution files (140 dpi), and the $5 tier gets all available variations. I appreciate all the support!
Ocean map update:
Still can't blend those blues. But the depths are more prominent now, so that's a plus. NTGL I did lose steam on it today. I will put the shallows and the currents on that map tommorow/later. *sighs in brainfogged worldbuilder*

Focus Map: The Sceim Breach
Apakouma Mountains: The mountains of the once great island of Apakouma have always been known for their belching mountains of fire, most of which are far too small to do any real damage. For years before the breach, the island people gave praise to a great fire bird that was supposedly born out of the volcanic mounts every thousand years.
The Breach: The Island of Apakouma was once a thriving metropolis, a collectivist paradise that existed outside the fueds of the rising city states of the mainland. That came crashing down when a mage conjured the breach. The occurrence itself is still surrounded in mystery, but supposedly by purpose or accident, a mage summoned forth a mighty being of ancient myth to try and claim its power. The summoning destroyed massive parts of the island, and though it is said the beast was defeated, the breach through which it appeared still consumes both the remnants of the island, and any too foolish to wander near. None knows where it goes, for none have ever returned. This is a great are to modify it from a mage to a cult if you want to run the Dragon Queen adventures from 5e (Dragon Queen’s Hoarde and Rise of Tiamat) otherwise you can make the being anything you want, personally I prefer a Kraken. You can even redesign the island to what it may have been like before the breach, build your own society around it. Either way, the Breach is a very flexible part of the landscape, maybe your heroes even prevent it from coming about.
Breachwatch: Breachwatch is a very small town made up of volunteer mages, their families, and various soldiers who monitor the breach and the magical energy that pulses around it for abnormalities, as well as how it affects the local fauna and mutates them into monstrosities.
Thaigburrow: Once the mighty fortress of the mage who summoned the breach, he was also quite excessive with the expansion of his home. When he no longer could expand his fortress out or up from his place on the mount, he instead began to burrow in and create a mine like dungeon that travels down for supposedly a hundred levels or more through the depths of the great mountain of the Apakouma range. Later this year Wizards of the Coast will be releasing an adventure called Dungeon of the Mad Mage, for which I am very excited, and will likely modify to fit this scene for my own play through. Otherwise it is an easy to incorporate abandoned fortress for all your needs and/or desires.
