So this post made me think of Sanctuary (duh), so have Alice at school. (She's probs about ten here?) Set in the Ocean's Edge universe, but all you really need to know is that Erika and Alice live in London. Double drabble, all mistakes are mine.

Alice looked around the classroom, wishing she had Saffy on her shoulder as everyone else chatted animatedly. Half way through the year and she’d changed schools again, the last two rife with bullying and knives and all sorts of things that made her mother go all creasy faced, her dad go all growly, and her grandmère tut, saying, “London really has gone downhill.” Declan told her to keep her head down, “They might be southern pansies but we like you in one piece,” whilst uncle Nikola’s response had been the least helpful, “You’re a HAP. Show them your teeth.”

She wanted friends, not pitchforks in the dead of night (she still didn't quite get that Frankenstein scene - why not use axes?).

“Can I sit here?”

Alice looked up at the voice. There, smiling, stood a girl with long, blonde hair, bright green eyes, and a t-shirt with Future Bigfoot written in red. Alice nodded, glancing at her own t-shirt’s lettering, proclaiming My best friend’s a dragon.

Smiling, she sat down, slinging her backpack under the desk. "I like dragons too!"

Alice flushed slightly, nodding. As the other girl chatted merrily away, Alice thought It's not so bad here, after all.
